The more I watch this show, the more I see how the impartiality of the judge clouds her judgement against litigants. He isn’t a deadbeat. He’s a man stuck between a rock and hard place and trying to improve his situation. A deadbeat doesn’t even attempt to provided he at least does that. He mentioned that he lost his job due to mistreatment causing him to fall behind on those egregious child support payments. He found another one. The woman apparently doesn’t want him badly enough so even though the relationship ended, she won’t allow him to move on. Yeah she did buy him a car but only because she felt guilty about economically castrating him with those support payments. If every time he tries to move on, she makes it inconvenient for him to spend time with his son, then it t isn’t that the father is a deadbeat, it’s that the mother is bitter. I also found it disrespectful and disgusting that the judge suggested that he jeopardize the freedom of the custodial parent by putting her in contempt of court. Especially when he already has an unstable living situation. But of course she couldn’t realize it because she was too busy reaffirming the narrative that all black fathers are lazy, perpetually unemployed deadbeat dads. She berated the man in front a courtroom of people just because she knew she could get away with it; No Moral Compass. That was a tremendous oversight on behalf of the judge but that’s besides the point because the mother is equally immature. All women involved in the case need to grow the fcuk up, judge included

Things have changed…men used to be able to use the “she won’t let me see my child” excuse, but they have equal parental rights and responsibilities. If a parent is making large child support payments every month it’s because they don’t have their child often and they don’t want to have joint custody of that child. The courts give both parents equal rights and access. So his excuses are not going to fly.

It always bothers me when people are laughing and acting like the foolishness in these cases are silliness, because as a child of parents like these it’s not fun or funny. It’s inconsistent and neglectful when the father has every excuse in the world and then always blames the mom, and the mother keeps going back and forth between “Sure I still care for this man” and “Oh fuuu this guy imma be petty as hell,” while the child is sitting there waiting for both to treat the kid like they are the priority and it never seems to happen. I always wish JM would reprimand them vs feeding into the gossip and drama for her amusement. So many people behave this way because other adults don’t take it as seriously as they should, just treating it like normal divorce behavior, and it’s the children that are damaged in the long run feeling like they need to prove their worth to their damn parents over and over.
