Judge Judy said once in her court room, If a family member or friend asks for money, and you have it to give, consider it a gift, because if you don’t get it back, it’s not worth losing that family member or friend over. If you get it back, then good. I have always remembered that.

That is the rule I live by. I argue with my wife about this. I have 3 sons and 3 stepsons. My oldest stepson has needed money more than once. She would tell me to lend it to him and let him make payments. I did because she's my wife and his mother. He would always pay back a little and then stop and she would get mad. I told her this wouldn't happen if we just gave the money to him. We had the money to lose so why cause strife in our family? That was 7 or 8 years ago. Last week his wife broke down on the hiway. I'm a mechanic so they called me to help. They have a child and are just starting out. They don't have a lot of money. I had it towed to my work and fixed it in the parking lot which was the shortest distance and the cheapest route. I told the wife I was paying for it and I would tell them it was a gift, which I did. They are grateful and I feel good about doing a good deed. No hard feelings at Thanksgiving dinner and no one avoiding anyone over guilt. Family is way more important than a few hundred bucks for sure.

Obviously, the defendant doesn't feel guilty for not PAYING the debt. The type of familial relationship is not relevant. A lender should NEVER have to ask for their money. The defendant's girlfriend lacks morals. Anyone in the audience with Harvey that said that they wouldn't sue is lying. Wait until they get in that situation. 😂

I almost misheard this... Did the defendant really use chainsaws for the plantiff's wisdom teeth?

Reminds me of when family members ask you to co-sign for a loan.
@jaconiabynum686310 ай бұрын
It's one thing to ask for it but it's a whole other thing to borrow it with a promise to pay it back. You never know where someone took money from to make sure somebody they care for is taken care of in an emergency.

$900 to have two teeth pulled?! Clinics I've been to are only $50 without insurance.

I think they said he was under anesthesia, that is why the girlfriend went to pick it up.

My 10 year old son had a baby tooth pulled last week because the permanent tooth was trying to come in. We don’t have insurance. It’s was $283.00

Did they say he needed $900 to get two teeth extracted? That's seems like way too much, save money by going to the dental college to get them pulled.

Dental colleges have extended appointment dates. This was an emergency.

I find it funny that whenever Harvey asks people on the street if they’d sue family everyone always says oh no I’d never! Yet lots of somebodies have no issue with it soooo…. That’s why I think they need to cut that part out. They always seem to ask the dumbest people and everyone says what they think makes them look good. Only one in a blue moon is there an honest person.

I loaned my dad around $3000 years ago, a loan, he agreed to make monthly payments. I never got paid back, I didn't ever sue him but any time he asked me for money again, I told him "no."

The father said that the son would give him money and he'll give it back to him. Once the money was given, it should have been deducted from the bill. If the father chose to give it back, that money then became a gift.

He’s an adult and needs to be responsible. Period. If $600 you owe is the reason you have bad blood with your family then that petty on the person who doesn’t want to pay back.
