Great video! I bought one a few months ago because I was looking for non toxic plants. A few leaves fell off transferring from the shop to the house and I put them in soil on a whim and a couple have started sprouting! It's become one of my favs 🌱

that’s awesome! they grow so easily. I ended up planting all the cutting back in with the mother plant, (I’m moving and needed to consolidate for the new place) and now it’s a big jumble of hope and it’s so nice. haha.

I actually show how they’re doing in some of my Pink Princess Propagation videos, I’ll link the ones they’re in, in comments below, haha. I use cinnamon a lot, I’ve found it works great for fungus gnats, but also I don’t know if I’m just putting it on at the point when they’re all dying off anyway, hahaha. 😂

I love to feel the leaves when I'm about to have a panic attack 😂 My leaves are curling. I never thought it might be too much sun.
@michaeljohnhalse
@michaeljohnhalse 4 жыл бұрын
Oh, I should try that! It could either be too much sun or not enough water. They curl to keep in moisture, so if you don’t want to move, just try upping the water a bit.

I kno im really late seeing this so im "hoping" (ahuh see what I did there lol) you can still help me. So I hv what I thought all this time was a pepromia hope but hv been corrected recently & told its actually the pepromia rotundifolia so now idk what i hv lol. This plant is medium sized with long stems tht hang over the pot so beautifully. Its stems have always just draped over the pot so I figured with leaves the size of half dollars running up it the weight makes the stems drape but I was told thts not correct, tht the stems should b very stiff & stick straight out, no draping so now I'm worried. On top of tht my child watered it mistakenly right after I did so I had no choice but to re-pot it bcuz it strtd losing bottom leaves. 1 more thing, the new growth always starts out a little curled under & some of the big leaves also do this & always hv but I was told tht shouldn't happen either so im lost & lookin for advice. Im sure its experiencing some shock frm the transplant but im worried bcuz now some of the leaves are getting kinda soft & she's in fresh new (not over watered) soil. Would u advice I just go ahead, wash off the roots & stick them in water to re-root then strt over? I dnt wanna risk hurting them or losing any of it so im trying to be proactive but my indecisive-ness needs some good advice. Oh & they'll propergate in water correct? Im sry lol. Thank u

hahah. from what I’ve been told, the plant in this video is just a hope. and not a rotundifolia. I should’ve done more research. HOWEVER the care for them is very similar. My hope also has curled leaves and new leaves come in curled most of the time. I’ve found the more humidity the less round the new leaves are, but also they seem to flatten out for me as they grow. As far as cutting, they will definitely root in water, and if you’re worried about loosing the plant, maybe try taking some cuttings, but leaving some of the mother plant alone and just seeing how it continues to grow. worse case scenario, your mother plant dies, but you have cuttings for a new plant, best case you’ll have a ton of new vines to add to your plant!
@michaeljohnhalse
@michaeljohnhalse 3 жыл бұрын
I’d also advise to maybe just let the mother plant (if you do take cuttings) to dry out totally. the soft leaves might mean it’s overwatered so it could probably use a total dying out. just to let the plant is up as much moisture as possible.

Very confusing. You said it is a Peperomia Rotundifolia commonly know as Peperomia Hope, meanwhile there is a “regular” Peperomia Rotundifolia in the wild (not a cross between two different varieties/cultivars). Peperomia Rotundifolia look similar to Peperomia sp. “Pepperspot” but all green. So if this plant is just another cultivar then the use of “commonly known” is not necessary. Just saying. I do collect Peperomias and I haven’t seen this Peperomia to be a Rotundifolia specie.

Hey! So I’ve had this plant for a little while (I call her Pep) and when I originally bought her from the online nursery, some of the newer leaves were already curled but I thought they’d flatten out with time. That didn’t happen and months later, even the new stems that came up have severely curled leaves. I moved it to an area with less light but the leaves are still coming out curled. I also tried watering more often but that didn’t help. I added some calcium, but still no improvement. There aren’t any pests either. I just don’t know what to do at this point :/ any tips?
@michaeljohnhalse
@michaeljohnhalse 3 жыл бұрын
hmm, that's interesting. On all of mine, this plant included, new leaves come in curled, but flatten out when they get to be larger, usually curling leaves are a sign that they need water, so I'm surprised that didn't help. I've also noticed that the lower light they get the more curled the leaves become, so maybe it needs a brighter place than where you originally had it. I have all of mine right in a west facing window. I would try that first, and if the sun fries a couple of leaves, lessen the light. see if that changes the curliness at all!

I think you might be right! I’ve been doing even more into peperomia hopes vs rotundifolia, and I think the hope is it’s own plant. But I imagine the care is similar, what’s happening with your peperomia? how is it dying?
