The per unit system is a method of normalizing and simplifying the representation of electrical quantities in power systems.
This Tutorial shows the process of finding the per unit impedance values of an Electrical Network.
Doing a per unit system calculation is very important for finding your short circuit current.
It is commonly used in power system analysis and design to express the magnitudes of various electrical parameters in a consistent and dimensionless manner. The per unit system is particularly useful for comparing and analyzing different components within a power system without being concerned about the specific voltage or current levels.
All Electrical components on a network can be represented with an impedance value in per unit form that is the percentage form, this help a great deal to determine the value of the short circuit current.
Explore per-unit system calculations in electrical engineering with this comprehensive tutorial. Tailored for students, engineers, and professionals, this video covers the fundamentals of per-unit systems, including the importance of standardizing electrical quantities and the principles behind per-unit calculations.
Learn how to convert electrical values to per-unit equivalents, understand the formulae for impedance, voltage, and current transformations, and explore practical applications in power system analysis and design. Mastering per-unit system calculations is essential for ensuring consistency and efficiency in electrical engineering practices.

Hello, for the old and new values for transformer 2, did you accidentally mix them up?
@CMTEQ
@CMTEQ 10 ай бұрын
Hi yes on Part 2 of the tutorial, T2 values got mixed up while writing them down, but the values where applied correctly on the formula hence the final answer was correct. I hope it was helpfull.

i had a question why is V base new for the generator also 250v?
@CMTEQ
@CMTEQ 8 күн бұрын
Because, its a 250V, 5kVA generator and the chosen base voltage is 250V.

So for transformers, we use any other Vbo(250/800 KV) we want?. For example, you used 250KV instead of 800KV

may you please help me with drawing the per unit of a street lighting system where a mini substation is feeding 4 transformers and those transformers are feeding 300 light poles each
@CMTEQ
@CMTEQ 3 жыл бұрын
You need a feeder System, you already have the sketch on your statement just put it on pen and paper. Each transformer will feed about 75 lights, those light can be reduced to a resistive load with x amount of kVA or MVA depending on how big of the load they are, then you need to know your cables impedances so you can calculate the per unit from it. Draw it and DM it to me on my Twitter handle @CMTEQ1 will have a look for you. I hope you have already subscribed.
