I am by far one of his biggest fans and I really have to thank you for this video. First of all, it's really meaningful how you portrait Pelle like a person. Of all the letters I've read he seems like a really nice guy that I could spend hours talking with, he was pretty smart and talented! I'm also so tired of seeing people spreading lies and being disrespectful about him. Laughing at his passing, sexualizing him with Euro and a lot of f*cked up shit. As you mentioned, Pelle was not just Dead, and people always forget about it. Everytime I see that cover I imagine how would it be for me if he was my brother, and the pain I feel is out of this world. I could never recover of something like that. Anders is really strong for it! As a fan, I'm here to honors his memory and respect his family. The others so called "fans" should do the same. May Pelle rest in peace.

Dead was loved inspite of his way of communicating. He had moment's where he paused and let those moments be his truth. He needed care and useful distraction. He had a way of knowing alot more than he was prepared to share. He kept himself alive a lot longer than i expected. When it's a clear night and frozen in a moment of the breath felt when we witness Earth as a dynamic energy. Not the passive quiet cradle of lifes endless growth and intrigue. Thank you dead.

The way you mix facts and humor, while also being incredibly respectful on a subject as delicate as this one, is surprising yet brilliant. I have also watched the Lords of Chaos video and it’s fantastic as well. I will like to see if it were worth your time, to make a separate video, in this manner, about Euronymous and Varg Vikernes. Where we can explore them as individuals outside of the mythological sphere that people get to meet them. Not gonna lie. I would definitely love to hear everything you have to say about the latter. (Sorry for my broken english) This video always makes me cry, but at the same time, this is the coziest video I've found in months! And the best one covering Dead's life (in my opinion). When I was starting my metal journey, I was curious about Mayhem and Dead, but every single video I found covered the same grizzly facts in a dehumanizing/glorifying way that discouraged me to know more about the band & I felt afraid of finding THAT cover, if I decided to go more into the rabbit hole that is Mayhem. Thank you so much for this video (and the 'Lords of Chaos' Video), Dead's history has always moved my heartstrings as someone that struggles with SH and mental health issues, and it is great to finally found someone who could tell his life in a humanizing way, looking at Pelle as a person, not just a tragic icon. Again, THANK YOU, your voice, humour and little cute collage cartoons make this video so welcoming and comforting that I finally got into Mayhem's music (still fighting to avoid THAT cover). You are amazing! PD: I want to do your Lords of Chaos drinking game someday!

wow, amazing research, you collected some facts i didn't know about, even tho i'm not fond of some of his attitudes, i find him fascinating, not for that mysterious and dark persona people project at him, i always found inspiring how strongly dedicated and committed to the craft he was, he risked the most, gave up on everything else for his passion and became one with his art and his performance, even if it was to his own detriment and it depleted him, i guess that is the romantic sadomasochistic struggle we often find ourselves in respects to art, but beneath that there's the ever present humanity and vulnerability we are bound to, i think that's the worse part of lords o chaos, it treat them as teen caricatures with no reasoning for what they do other that debauchery and edginess, not as people or complex humans like a good movie would require, the movie itself doesn't have a glimpse of understanding or sympathy for its characters, looking forward to your roast of that movie ;)

Nicely done. I, also, have mixed feelings toward Pelle: admiration, pity, and disgust. I can understand the fascination with dead animals, but I don't condone torturing them to death. And if he hates cats so much, why was he so upset over a woman's leopard skin coat? I didn't hate the movie, I just thought it was silly, glamorous, and Americanized. Like you say, I had no reason to care about any of the characters, either. I couldn't imagine anyone liking LOC unless they were into metal, and most metalheads would probably just laugh at it.

I dunno, I got my psychology degree from Comfy Chair University, so it's not exactly definitive 😁 I don't have many huge issues with the movie, I tend to defend it because I think a lot of people dismiss it out of hand, but I'll get into that in the video.

Dead/Pelle (Mayhem), Chuck Schuldiner (Death), Jeff Loomis (Nevermore), Warrell Dane (Nevermore), Cliff Burton (Metallica), Joe Duplantier (Gojira), Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains), Dimebag Darrell (Pantera), and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) are some of my favorite musicians. I also like looking at the backstory of my favorite musicians. Pelle and I were born in the same month. His birthday is January 16th. My birthday is January 21st. I am 21. He would be 54, I think.

Ain't no way I just paused the video when the reading of what the 'sorcerer' had said so I could reminiscent my past few years because of the focus on colour-- I thought, I spent a year in grey with a faint tint of blue where I suffered low-functioning depression and wished to wake up no longer alive but never did; then the grey faded to a blue the next year that kept getting brighter and brighter into a white and it made me very anxious. I spent two years trying to recover when the colours faded to noises. Resuming the video and hearing pretty much what I thought to myself be repeated was a bit funny. I never considered myself living but rather just existing and I've recently grew unexplainably obsessed with Mayhem and Pelle Ohlin in particular. I knew I could only go 'til 22 since in the 'worst year' of my life and I am ever fascinated by the process of decomposition and, of course, death. I think it's hilarious how I ended up here, obsessing over a man who felt like was exactly what I wished I could be. This video definitely had wayy more information than what I thought there was available. Very thorough and interesting to view. Had to pause again at the mention of Hammer Horror. I love Hammer Horror!
@EveryFairyDies Жыл бұрын
I never thought of describing it using colour theory, but I absolutely understand the feeling of waking up and wishing you hadn't because of depression, and the sense of simply existing and not feeling like you're living. I hope things are better for you, and you get to experience a lot of great things. Also, Hammer Horror rules!

This was an amazing documentary! I have seen many documentaries about Mayhem, but no-one that went this deep into the life of the band members! I loved it! Could you please make more like this? Maybe more about Mayhem, or the story about Faust of Emperor, Jon Nödtveidt of Dissection or (if you want to dig reeeally deep into some obscure and horrifying things) talk about the basist of the band Carpe Noctem?! :D Have a nice day!

Thank you so much!! I've got a whole series planned which will all include the ones you've mentioned, and I've already done one on Carpe Noctem's bassist! (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j57bYYCfls9lbas) I prefer to title this series with the victim's name rather than the murderer. Please let me know what you think! The frog graphic with the “Gore is trend” took me out. 😂😂 But seriously, thank you for such a full, and honest recount of his life. I watched the “Helvete” documentary and cried my eyes out while Anders was being interviewed. While Pelle may have done some things that I don’t agree with (crucifying a hamster) I have a lot of empathy and love towards him. He was one of a kind who could never know the legacy he would leave. And (not to jump on the armchair diagnosis bandwagon…I guess I’m gonna anyway) as someone on the spectrum, this further confirms my suspicions that he too was likely on the autism spectrum and he moved through the world in such a unique way. I only wish that he could have stayed longer to grow and develop his vision into something more mature and sustainable. Rest in Transylvania Pelle. ❤

@EveryFairyDies9 ай бұрын
His near death experience actually happened when he was around 13, not 10.
@nationstationmusic2279 ай бұрын
@@EveryFairyDies actually it was ten. At the age of ten, he suffered internal bleeding when his spleen ruptured after what he claimed was an ice skating accident. However, in the Swedish metal book Blod eld död (English: "Blood Fire Death"), his brother Anders stated in an exclusive interview that Dead was frequently bullied in school and one day sustained a ruptured spleen as a direct result of a severe beating by bullies. Because of the injury, Ohlin had to be rushed to a hospital, where he was, for a time, declared clinically dead. (I can’t send a link so I just copied and pasted it lol). So since then he’s been dead more than pelle since he died at 22. That’s not to say pelle was gone he it’s just saying he was “dead” more than he was pelle

Hey. I recently found this movie called Metal Lords (2022) and found it to be like a pre-quel to Lords of Chaos, at least in my mind. I thought it was very good, and wanted to recommend it. I hope you don't mind me commenting it here because I can't do it to the Lords of Chaos video. You revived my interest in Lords of Chaos, and from a technical stand point it is good, but the director makes fun of the characters and overly exaggerates them to a farce, which I can't watch. Metal Lords is a bit more serious, as if they are trying to revive metal for the new generation. Anyway, looking forward to your videos.
