I love the Hobie kayaks, but for the skinny, rocky rivers I paddle, bringing a Hobie is akin to bringing a Ferrari to play in a gravel pit. The Access 11.5 might be the kayak for me. The fact that it's a lot less expensive is just a bonus. Thanks for showing us this kayak!

Ha love the analogy. This video is a few years old, I went through a couple hobies for ocean fishing but eventually settled on an old town powered by minnkota for saltwater. The access was a great yak

I have the same yak, I put a trolley on it, great idea with the rod holders. I use a milk crate behind me with 4 pvc's .1-attached to the crate at each corner. It's difficult to get stuff. I'm thinking of going big and getting a Old Town Sportsman 106 Min Kota.

It’s tough. The access is a really great SOT with surprising speed and I put it through 2 years heavy use, but I pulled a trigger on a hobie passport 10.5 this March and it has been perfect for me. I’ve literally stopped looking at other kayaks (used to all the time) and focused on fishing instead. Hands free fishing while trolling and relocating is huge. Don’t know the sportsman but assume you’ll be able to do that too. I use a 36lb trolling motor on a 2 person fishing SUP but am thinking a lot about battery life when I’m on the water. With a pedal kayak it’s all about your personal endurance and you can push that far.

Did you do a video of you putting these mods? I would love to do these, but have no idea how to do this stuff. Can you put links of items purchased?

Hey there I didn't film it because I was learning as I went along, which isn't hard, but didn't want to steer anyone wrong. will put some links in description, in the meantime some other useful vids; Rivet gun, used to attach multiple types of surface mounts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipO7ZYCph6xqiKM Hatch install: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHXGdKGkgtCAipY Anchor trolley: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anKVf6Oii86Hppo

Hahahaha bro watching you fall off the kayak was hilarious

LOL. It was actually funnier in person, like it happened in slow motion. Crazy how water looks much more shallow than it is when you’re sitting above it.

Ha, agreed. I picked up a passport 10.5 (it’s small enough to fit in the van and still get out into some fun water) in March and have already had it out 5 times. What a difference. Even the classic mirage drive is amazing
