Thank you so much for this Blackie! You helped me take apart my revolver and fix a cylinder that would not insert easily. The hand was rough and hanging upon the frame. This helped me out so much. I appreciate it!

I have the same Remie new army that I tuned and stripped the finish after watching your video earlier this year. I cut grease notches in the base pin, reshaped the sights, and opened the nipple openings. She's a fine running machine now. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and helping others enjoy their percussion revolvers even more.

I want to thank you Mr. Blackie! My A.S.M. 1858 Remington is 25-27 years old and has never been completely dissembled until tonight. I watched your video several times, hit pause, backed up, and followed your directions tooth and nail. It wasn't really dirty though with just a little surface rust inside the frame. I have been taking the grips, cylinder, nipples and submerging everything in my sink full of very hot soapy water method. However, this gives us a peace of mind if we do this completely 2-3 times a year. Thank you for your awesome and very informative videos.

DO NOT get rid of your Old Army Ruger to buy a Remington repro. The Remington is a good pistol,but Bill Ruger built an improved version.... Let me repeat; the ruger is an improved design, it's stronger.... If you just have to get rid of it, I'll trade one of my Remington repro's for it....Seriously.....Lol, I really wish Ruger hadn't quit making those.....

@@BLACKIETHOMAS Good deal ,Just make sure the the spring screw is not backed off too much as if it is the cylinder will still rotate to the right at full cock. First time I did this I thought I had reassembled it improperly so I disasembled it again and put it back together before I figured ut out that I just tightened the screw about 3/4 more and everything was right then.

Blackie great vid like always. I have the stainless Remington and noticed the timing is not as precise as my smokeless wheel guns. Have you noticed this before or is it just mine? All the gun smiths I have brought it to said it is normal for black powder guns because they have a wider cone than smokeless.
@BLACKIETHOMAS6 жыл бұрын
sometimes..if timing seems"""ALMOST"" late thats to say the cyl seems to be locking just at the last sec...it can be a good thing..since as time and shooting passes the parts wear a bit and the timing improves..it give the gun a longer service life before parts wear out....safe journeys
@kevchard52146 жыл бұрын
Thanks Blackie as you probably know it is hard to find a good gunsmith now days everyone wants to replace parts and build AR's and Glocks and very few will even look at a black powder revolver. I had one gunsmith tell me these guns were toys not real guns but he would not try and match the accuracy of this revolver with his Glock at 40 yards.

Can you re-install the mainspring w/put taking the other stuff apart? Mine broke (used 1980s replica, somewhat old) and I ordered a replacement but... I really don't want to have to completely disassemble the gun or take out the hammer or other parts as I'm new to this.
@BLACKIETHOMAS5 жыл бұрын
depending..if the spring has enough curve you may be able to take out the screw bolt that holds the hammer and let the hammer ride up a tad to give you room to put spring in then press hammer back down and re install bolt..other wise it will be very hard to just shove the spring in and not break it..wish i could be more help..but its kinda a tight squeeze

@@BLACKIETHOMAS Thanks you. In your experience should I disassemble it? My reason for not wanting to do so is I fear that the more I take apart at this stage of my knowledge the greater the chance for something to go wrong...
