This is the best explanation sighting in a fixed sight revolver that I've seen. Will definitely be using it as a reference for my Pietta 58. Thanks Blackie

Hey! Good video as just got TWO Remington New Model Army revolvers here: standard 8" barreled model + a Sheriff model in stainless steel. Also, got two Howell Arms conversion stainless steel cylinders for them both ~ fluted .45 Colt and a .45 ACP unfluted

After i seen your colt video, I took your idea and ran with it on my 1858 Rem. I had not seen this video yet. I liked the idea of adjusting the depth of the rear sight channel as otherwise i would of had to remove allot of metal from my original Navy Arms 1858. Which would of made it way less of a collectors gun and less valuable. Thanks for this idea, its so simple i wonder why i never thought of it :)

Just picked up a new pietta 1858 Remy sheriff's to replace my old (stolen) pietta 1858 new army. Appreciate the info. Now I need to go through the whole break in, sight in routine again.

Good vid. It was Keith that used gold bars -but as I recall, he was shooting out there - like he made some shots way out around 400 yards - iirc. I think he was shooting at a wounded elk and hit it with his 44 Mag. I have a nice Pietta Remington Army Target model that has adjustable sights. It's front sight is back cut but I think you could still make marks...

Blackie. I have a Rem. New model. Army, made by Uberti, for Lyman. Probley late '70's, to early '80's. Question is.. Do you think a Howell.45 Conversion Cyl. would index, and fit this Gun? I put Slix Shot Cones in it. But standard Uberti Nipples, were to small. Had to go with a Pietta Pocket Revolver nipple, 6x75 thread, to fit. Curious, about a R&D Cyl. Sure enjoy your Videos, and manner. Thank you.
@cathiemaxey776 Жыл бұрын
Standard Slix Shot Uberti nipples, were too small, and wrong thread. Sent them back to Mr. Reagan, at Slixsprings, along with a factory nipple. And he matched them to a Pietta Pocket size nipple, and they fit. Just concerned, that if the nipples were a issue. What about a Howell R&D .45 Cyl. Your thoughts Sir... Dan Maxey

Hello. Thanks very much for the truly interesting video. It has given me a lot to think about as regards sighting my own remington. Hello Mr Thomas , I've been asking you a lot of questions recently and you've always answered them very well. Since then I have another question. I was wondering if you can run a series of videos about knife sharpening and care ? I'm an avid knife guy but seem to have lost my touch for sharpening a blade to get it hair shaving sharp. I can get it sharp enough to work with but I'm not satisfied with the results. I have tried every method you can think of. I'm currently using a three sides sharpener that has three separate stones that sit in a try and you flip the stones over to the desired grit you want. They're water stones for easier clean up. Anyway a video series on sharpening would be great for all your viewers. Please give me your thoughts on this.
@BLACKIETHOMAS4 жыл бұрын
i have taken a knife as sharp as i could get it on a set of stones...then shift to fine sandpaper glued to a flat board..i go to the autoparts stores and get paper in 400 /600 /800 /1000/1500/3000 grits and make sharpening boards with them..they produce a polished edge..very sharp..but be warmed..if you bump against such a edge your cut..
@stevecunningham53744 жыл бұрын
@@BLACKIETHOMAS Great advice , thanks again. I have used sand paper on my hatchets and axes with good results. I've tried to do the same thing on one of my knives , I guess I just need more patients and practice. Thanks again , Steve.

Clock the barrel in the frame. Tighten or loosen for windage. It Is a microscopic adjustment, so be careful.

After watching both of these I feel like you might have a better site picture with a Colt due to having your range lines visible at all times on the hammer. I was wondering what your thoughts might be on adjusting the finish or even putting like a divider of paint on the front site of a Remington instead of only relying on the hash marks. I have a stainless model and I'm wondering just how visible hash marks would be.

i had a friend who went to a jeweler ...and he used a jeweler saw to cut lines on his sight and then press in thin inlay metal strips..like for fancy scroll inlay work on gun socks i am sure it could be done to your SS and just use some contrast color

Great video, as always. Thanks for showing support for Baden Powell whose memory has been given a negative aspect during the BLM protests here in Britain. Scouting for boys has always expressed equality, however, this new movement wants his statue removed because of his alleged links to Hitler.
