I agree with what you're saying about them knowinf straight away that someone is a monster or some place is magical. With Medusa i could get onboard because her myth is very well-known and with the statues outside it was kinda obvious. But especially with a myth like the lotus eaters (which i imagine is not the first thing that comes to mind if someone asks you "name a Greek myth") I didn't like that they knew it from the start

I agree, that one in particular I was really confused by. It was just such a strange choice for the episode

Fully agree with Robby, least likeable episode by far. As a book reader, I felt like a lot of content wasn't really relevant to the storyline unless they are changing the story across the next two episodes. The Hermes conversation seemed so forced and disconnected. It also unloaded a lot of info that seems weird in the current storyline but as mentioned, it has a very deep place in the final arc of the books.

Yea I am extremely disappointed about some of the spoilery info in that Hermes conversation. Especially since Liz is about to read the final book in the series for the first time, so now that reveal won't be as impactful.

Yeah and not just the spoilers from Hermes but the very early "super common knowledge apparently" reveal from Annabeth about what is wrong with Luke's mom compared to the books where it has to be puzzled out and confirmed by Hermes and Chiron IIRC

At first I liked the episode, but after watching it a few times I noticed the mistakes and now I'm a little disappointed.

Yea, I really hope the next episode brings the quality back up

I'm different, I felt it was underwhelming and a bit boring during my first watch, but after a second watch, I felt they will probably make sense after we finish the season. You see, they are doing changes here and there for a little bit of screenplay drama. During Ep. 3, we heard Medusa punished by Athena after she embarrassed her, and then they showed us the parallel with Annabeth during Ep. 4. It doesn't make sense that the Nereid gave 4 pearls, but the preview makes it sound like they will lose 1 pearl, so again, screenplay drama.

@@bookwormcouple I may be wrong though, those are just my personal opinions regarding screenplay drama. Definitely Rick approved the changes to fit the TV show platform which is limited in time, unlike with manuscripts where the author can write anything they want as there are no time constraints.

Yea, I know Riordan was heavily involved, that's what is making me hopeful that the changes they've made so far end up working well for this adaptation.
