@@Zygrene Gen 2s are extremely compromised and very scary. Granted, the one I drove was a Hennessy version. But if you can drive (or maybe you can't) and you're not afraid, they are otherworldly fun! Just don't wreck because if you don't die the hood alone will cost you approximately $22k. 😬 That being said Gen 5s are the most well sorted. They drive like larger Miatas.

Great conversation! I feel like it’s so important to get into the owner mindset with car reviews, glad that was talked about. I also think that disagreement on cars is super important. I never thought too much about it but I think there’s a lot of people that expect there to be one objective opinion on a car and every other view is wrong. For instance, when you said the GR Corolla was your most overated car, I can see your POV, but we’re going to need to talk in-person the next time I’m in the Bay area.🤬😂

The dream vs reality 3 car garage is a good convo to have. For me, the reality is just bought a 2014 9991.1 MT cabriolet for nice weather backroad driving. It's great on the street, sounds amazing. There's plenty of faster cars better on the track but that's not why I got it. Second vehicle is 2013 Tundra for hauling stuff, camping and taking my dog hiking. It's a bit boring but ridiculously reliable and not so nice that I get bent out of shape when it gets dirty or hit...3x since I got it in 2016! My 3rd car that I daily is a 2018 Audi TTS with a stage 1 mods to 380HP. It's like a luxury go kart that is nimble city traffic car that fits a surprisingly amount of groceries. Admittedly the TTRS is better sounding and performance trim but it's also a lot more expensive. Since I'm under no delusions about my city...all but my Porsche are gonna get beat up or wrecked. It's only a matter of time unless I move to a less fun more pretentious bougie suburb.
3 cars what I plan to have forever (of which I own currently) Lexus ISF (with swapped lsd) Lexus GX460 for family 06 Tundra DC for man stuff ---- ISF is daily track… ideally the 4th car is rotating with rwd manual (S2K, Porsche, Miata(lul))

I’m surprised no mention of a Lotus Elise in here! Yes, lots of trade-offs, but I’m surprised they don’t get more love in a 3-car scenario. The Exige V6 is a surprisingly different experience, and incredibly visceral, but not many of them in this country, and I doubt many have driven them.

@@Zygrene Always surprised by the lack of love from those who value a visceral driving experience... 2000 lbs, no power steering, mid-engined. My best understanding is they're not a "real" car--plastic dash, not normal to get in and out of, etc. But I often wonder if relatively few people having actually driven one is a factor. Too bad not more people have driven the Exige V6--it replaces a not-great sounding 4 cylinder with a growly, characterful, much more powerful V6. The whole experience is easily the most visceral car I've driven (short of full blown race cars).

Fellas just shat all over my dream of getting a 718 GT4. At the track, I had more fun in the 718 GT4. It was easier to slide around and forced me to be smooth with my inputs to get a fast lap time. In the 992 GT3 it was easier to be fast and the GT3 hid some of my poor driving habits. Felt like I had grip for days. Every lap was a PB and was nowhere near the limit of the GT3. But the GT4 I felt near the limit but had a lot of driving habits to overcome. I’m pretty close to buying a particular GT4. But man. Yall just shat all over it lol. Now I’m not so sure I should get one
@homesaucemagic2 ай бұрын
I still think the GT4 is really great value for the car you get. Of course it isn't as special as some of the GT3's but most GT3's are a lot more money to buy too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the GT4 as it's a very approachable, driveable and usable sports car. Are there better cars? Yes of course, but there are always better cars at higher price points. I hope you don't get discouraged if the GT4 is what you can afford.
