I think with this episode, this series has officially cemented itself as my favorite FilmCow series thus far. There's just something so quality about the writing; it's quiet, contemplative, and even horrifying...but also really funny in its dry humor, while imbuing Norwell the weasel and an ensouled coat with genuine pathos/affection for one another. I like how they're both clearly dealing with a fucked up situation, and don't exactly want to admit that, but they're also both healthy enough in their relationship to recognize that not talking about it would be dishonest and harmful to them both long term. I cannot believe I'm deeply analyzing a series about the gay romance between a weasel and a coat, but here we are, man.

This series balances the uncertainty of existential dread with the certainty of true love atop a fulcrum of absurdity: The wholesome relationship and unsettling environment are presented as equally ever-present and unquestionable counterweights. Absurdism is then used to gently tip this scale back and forth, oscillating between comfort and discomfort; ciabatta and purgatory. I've never seen anything like it, and the soothing response it provokes is likewise unique. What fantastic art!

I think Coat has been really a rock for Norwell and in this episode the surreal nature of their situation has begun to seriously grate on him, which is absolutely reasonable given the circumstances and odd experience he had this episode, and so Norwell successfully is there for him just as Coat was for him in previous episodes. Like a lot of people, I suspect, I came here from Llamas with hats all those years ago but this channel has genuinely changed the way I appreciate its content. It's probably the only thing I watch where I really stop thinking about story in any traditional sense and just allow myself to feel. Once I do that, I find that the atmosphere, the music, and the visual style affect me so viscerally. I don't worry about how events relate to each other or question character motivations, I just let the ebb and flow of the video do whatever it's doing. It's easy to dismiss these videos as "weird" but they are actually truly exploratory art in a medium that rarely does it.
