People think $39 is expensive? Considering it's a stater kit with everything included, I think it's pretty reasonable. (Minus the seafood of course) It's all in one box and perfect for first timers. I would suggest they add some of the plastic coverings for the bamboo mat, but other than that, I think it's fairly priced. That soy sauce surely has to make it even better. And just think....now it comes with an instructional video from Hiro himself.

Ali dasoo People spend $20 or so a month on random boxes filled with useless comic book/anime/movie merchandise... all because it's 'rare' and 'limited edition.' Which of course it's not. It's all junk. But if you like it, fine, whatever. But this box could teach you a skill, that you only have to pay for once. Think about it.....people spend more money going to a cinema to see a movie for a few hours. Edit: Or spend more money on a shirt.

I really appreciate that Hiro is encouraging people to make sushi themselves. I respect that at the upper level it's it's own art form and that people spend years and years mastering it- but it's also just such a versatile and kind of cheap food.

I love the way that fish looks and is presented; sadly, I don't really like the taste of fish, but this channel is one of the main reasons why I still try fish every chance I get, because I hope one day I can truly enjoy the art that these chefs present when I come upon them. I hope that I get the chance to visit your restaurant, because Hiro really does show us a beautiful talent in these videos. I can only imagine what his food looks like on a plate in your restaurant.

Ash I'm willing to try whatever seafood is around, it just usually doesn't appeal too much to me yet. pretty much the only types of seafood I've really enjoyed were mild fishes, crab, and shrimp.

Nice video! The tuna used in the video look delicious! Reminds me of my first Sushi kit I bought years ago, it wasn't nearly as nice as the one in the video, if I remember correctly I only got the bamboo mat, chop sticks, wooden spoon, seaweed and a nice little book with recipes in it, but it worked great for me back in the day.

Is anyone else sick of hearing about Catalina Offshore Products? They don't ship outside of the US, to my understanding they don't supply NoVe with fish and only give little sample packets to Hiro and the Cameraman so that they can shamelessly be plugged into a video with their gimmicky westernization of Soy Sauce and whatever else they make and are only giving people a 10% discount that purchase from their store? Where I come from that 10% wouldn't even cover the tax, so I'm not quite sure I'm understanding the partnership here between NoVe and Catalina Offshore Products. I just know that I'm sick of hearing about them.

it's not physically cutting like cutting meat. It's a TECHNIQUE called "cutting" to disperse the solution EVENLY and to cool the rice at the proper speed. just like "folding egg whites" is not physically "folding" them

Another great video! Long time subscriber of your channel and just recently moved down to Southwest Florida from Tampa. Planning on making a trip over in the next few weeks but I had some questions. I was looking at the Zika map identifying the affected areas in Miami and saw the restaurant is about a block south of the region. How has that been affecting your business? Would you still say it's safe to venture out there right now? I am understandably hesitant of making my way across Alligator Alley right now given what's happening on the other coast.

You could see the pain in the Master's eyes as he used a kit to do something he mastered long ago. Very humble man.

While I can appreciate a kit to enable people to make it at home, personally nothing beats going to the restaurant. I enjoy watching the chef make it almost as much as I enjoy eating it and I always make a point of thanking the chef when I am done.
