Best vehicle ever. I love my 2003 with only 225k miles that I have had since 2005. I bought a new 2019 Duramax 2500 Denali to tow my heavier stuff while I rebuilt the chassis (I live in the North East and the brine is hard on vehicles) on my Suburban. Sold the Denali as the Suburban is definitely a more well rounded vehicle. Less maintenance and can haul 8 people and 12k lbs!

My dad just bought a 2002 Burb with 8.1L LT from his boss it only has 158k. His boss invested a lot of money into audio and lifted upgrades and from what I can tell it’s Bilstein shocks and some other mods. Black on grey interior and needs some TLC on paint, but so far it drives amazing. It is definitely the biggest vehicle we have ever owned given we drive Japanese car brands only. He bought it for our annual camping trip so it will sit for some time in between uses. My 2011 Acura MDX has been our tow family hauler for last 13 years, but dad said we can retire my MDX and it only has 189k. I’m looking forward to learning more about these 8.1L since they seem to be few and far between.

Nice truck gents! I bought a 171k life in California (no rust) 2004 w/ 8.1 and 4:10 gears, 4wd, middle bench, white on tan. Painted the hood, replaced the exterior lighting, new dash a/c control head, new steering wheel, steering shaft, tightened steering box 1/4 turn), power folding heated tow mirrors w/ power adjustment led backup lights and imbedded turn signal. Still needs headliner, leather refresh, oil leak fix, 4wd inop (replaced dash control, actuator and transaxle control module and cleaned ground to frame junction but still doesn’t work (service 4wd msg)), and the brake controller connector isn’t powering the brake controller. But….i love it!

I have a 96 and an 05 z71 burb. Love them both. But not a big block. They both are a delight to travel in. Great video

I got a RWD big-block Suburban as a rental in Louisiana back then on a work trip. Avis had a bunch of them that the oil companies would rent to tow with, and they were short of cars so I got one. It was like a school bus with an afterburner. The soundtrack of the thing was like old-school NASCAR. I hated to give it back when I went home. It was pretty low-spec, which was fine with me. I took my license test on an '80s diesel Suburban that my folks used to tow a gigantic camper rather slowly. The rental would have towed it very quickly, if not nearly as economically.

@PerformanceOnWheels color combo, lol. Real boomer c5 energy there. No one cares about color combinations. Rwd makes it less desirable

@dustinbrown7246 I own a C5 Z06 there were like 100x more of those built than these. RWD also makes it more rare. Doesn’t matter that it’s less desirable that was not the statement

(FALSE INFORMATION) doesn't have 4ws and also doesn't have manual so isn't that rare..

In all caps even! Beautiful. Thanks for the comment. Dust off the ol Webster dictionary. Look up the word rare. Spend as much time as you care to trying to find another one. Revisit what the word rare means, then swing back through.

4WS wasn't an option with the 8.1. 6.0's only. So that comment doesn't pertain to this particular vehicle.

Were there any manual transmission suburbans though? For some reason I thought the 8L trucks were the only ones with manual transmission options. BTW, OP a 2WD avalanche 2500 would be more “uncommon”
