In the next seasons, they made the players do one domino at a time. They changed the rules so that strategy was no longer possible.

Another hack was Stephen in Second Chance. They had to run around, answering questions and then pick up a small package, but Abi-Maria was already at this one post when he got there. He quickly read the question and then grabbed a package from the wrong one - making Abi-Maria take the same one and run away - before Stephen then put his back and took the right one, deliberately tricking her into picking the wrong answer. Not sure if he ended up winning but it's a great hack!

Probably a more accurate way to describe what I did, rather than pushing one side up and one side down, is more of a twisting motion. The bottom two rings pulled, and the top two pushed. I really do love the idol toss as an offensive maneuver; it takes some cunning to risk it all like that. What I'm surprised by is that it was never used *defensively*. Picture this, you're in the ring, you know you're opponent is willing to charge you at a moments notice. Rather than watching them, you watch their idol. And as *soon* as that thing hits the air, you chuck yours up as well; chuck it hard enough or late enough, and there's no way yours hits the ground before theirs.

One of the low key reasons why Boston Rob is so good at Survivor is his amazing balance. He's not the biggest or strongest guy on most seasons but he can fly over a balance beam. When they design challenges, the balance parts are meant to favor women; women on average have better balance than men. So Rob being particularly good at the part of the challenge that's meant to give him trouble is a huge advantage. It's the equivalent of a woman having the most upper body strength on a season.

If you're looking to make a 6.0 video, something from Guatamala might be considered a hack. In the episode 5 reward challenge, both tribes gather materials so they can pull a cart up a hill, and then race down it. It turns into a blowout because the first station involved using a sharp rock to cut a rope which would release the first set of materials. The winning tribe chopped the rope using the stone as an axe, and the losing tribe tried sawing through the rope using the stone as a saw. Apparently the losing tribe tried copying the winning tribe, but they couldn't figure out how to chop effectively, so they went back to sawing. The hack is that they show the chopping person bringing part of the rope off the cutting surface to help put more tension on it so that chopping can happen the most effectively. The sawing person leaves the rope on the table the entire time, so they might not have known how to get more rope tension to make the chopping method effective. As a result, the winning team ended up winning before the losing team could even finish getting through that first rope.

Random little hack I just realized while rewatching MvGX. In the Episode 7 reward challenge, they have to throw balls into a hole that drops into a net, where 2 other tribe members have to advance that ball through the netting. This isn’t too much of a hack, just more so a good strategy executed well. Everyone tries to just brute force the ball through, usually shown with both tribe members basically punching at it. But on the Vanua tribe, Zeke and Michelle have this awesome teamwork where Zeke is consistently pushing the ball a little bit further, while Michele grabs the net and widens it just where Zeke is about to push it to. They keep sliding down at a fast and consistent pace, which allows them to execute this so well. They’re able to pull this off super efficiently, which gives their tribe a huge lead (resulting in them winning). It’s fairly easy to miss if you aren’t paying too much attention, as it’s not shown too much, but if you do, you can see how much harder of a time the other tribes are having. I think towards the end, Will & Hannah try to pull it off, but don’t think execute it quite as well as Zeke & Michelle.

There's one hack I'm surprised you didn't mention. It's from Darrah, Survivor Pearl Islands, final 5. This challenge involved 3 shoots which had to be filled with water to lift out a ball (yes, a ball, again). Darrah, however, didn't need to pour nearly as much water as the others had to. Why? Because she lost so much weight, that she could literally fit her whole arm inside each shoot, and easily reach the ball.

The Adam hold reminds me of All Stars (and you should totally use this in a future video) when Shi Ann won the challenge where players had to keep their arm above their head. Their wrist was attached to a bucket of water and if they dropped their arm they would pull the water onto them and eliminate them. She said in the DVD commentary that she won the challenge by extending her arm straight overhead with no bend in her elbow or angle in her shoulder so that the tension was on her bones and not her muscles, allowing her to basically stand there indefinitely. Gravity isn't a force remotely strong enough to break a bone, and she couldn't feel pain there as she would've in her muscles. She said she could've held her hand up for hours and it was funny to her because the other contestants had no clue how she came from nowhere and won that challenge. Rupert was exhausted and admitted, "You are tough! What is going on?" and she confidently responded, "I'm going to win."

I'd just like to clarify that Spencer that did not rewatch old challenges on his own accord for that hack... A Survivor fan messaged him on Facebook prior to season 31 filming and said that they realized this puzzle went unused in season 30 and told him to study it because they thought it might be on Second Chance. So shout out to whoever that guy was!! (Can't remember his name)

Ok. What the video says makes absolutely no sense. He says the puzzle was unused and never made air. Then he says Spencer rewatched the season and froze the frame, outlined the puzzle and memorized how to put it together. If it never made air then what was Spencer watching that he could freeze the frame and memorize the puzzle.

@@kandeekane1 It made air very briefly, but was not used in the challenge. There were 3 routes you could take, one including that puzzle, but no one took it. So someone correctly guessed that production would bring it back

I kept waiting for the jumping off hack! You finally included it

Evvie did the same thing as Spencer in season 41.

I came here just to say that. It was with a different puzzle, but the concept is the same.

I've never watched the show except for some of these "hack" and recap videos. One thing I noticed is that the producers & host of the show do not like to be outsmarted, upstaged, or made to look stupid. There have been many examples where a team or individual figures out a simple / smart work-around (they really are not hacks) and solve a puzzle, by-pass the effort, or otherwise show that there is a much better way to avoid the very thing that the challenge was intended to do. Often the rules are changed, the challenge reworked, or some minor aspect altered to make the "hack", illegal, impossible, or ineffective in subsequent seasons. On rare occasions the contestants make Jeff look stupid, call him on his stuff, or just get a good quip in and that just makes me smile. Now there is a hack!
