Why is everyone complaining about this song?? It's catchy and heavy in equal measure, which about sums up their approach to songwriting from P2 onwards...don't get me wrong, I still love and listen to their first album on a frequent basis, but they couldn't keep doing that stuff forever, and any dabbling and experimenting with accessible songwriting have produced great tracks! 'Djent' in its zeitgeist form has had it's time and these guys are showing what else can be achieved with the subgenre. This, of course, is all just an opinion, but I do implore you to listen to new record if you haven't yet. It's killer (again, in my opinion) :)

What annoys me more than haters is the people feeding them. Let them express their opinion, no matter how wrong you think it is, without coming back with some asslicking comment about how the band is perfect or whatever. I can see why people might not like this type of Periphery, but I think it's pretty sick and and I'm loving this new material. if the vox were "poppy" and the song was "poppy". this would be getting air time. guess what? it isn't. this is far from poppy as well as the album. don't judge the band and their work off of a song or two. listen to tracks from them like 22 faces or ragnarok or buttersnips or racecar or jetpack was yes or hell below or mk ultra. all of those are insanely complex and heavy tracks. dive deeper into the band before you place a full opinion on them. spencer is arguably the best vocalist out right now. his low growls are monstrous and his clean vocals are mesmerizing. just because he's got an actual range doesn't make him a pop vocalist. and all the people complaining are the ones that think 80's metal was superior because there was no such thing as clean vocals. if you don't like it, fucking leave and don't comment.

everyone's commenting like "oh this is s*** periphery has sold out" I believe haven't actually listened to the album in its entirety. I believe this is their most solid release yet, not mentioning the INSANE production. The diversity and multilayered complexity of the LP is nothing less than impressive, with Spencer's vocals which are actually better than I expected, a sort of Chester Bennington in a progressive metal context. You can hear the band's intention to get BIG and why not, "famous" in a broader sense. What's wrong with that? We're talking about real musicians here, very, very far away also from bands in the same context (think about After the Burial's last release...).

Why is having good and memorable vocal melodies considered "poppy"? Shouldn't that be a good thing? Plus if this were a Bulb or Haunted Shores song, guaranteed, most of the people complaining would eat it right up.
@kaingates10 жыл бұрын
It's because the fans who grew tired of Icarus Lives and Scarlet were hoping they took a different turn with the new album. We were wrong, they ripped up Scarlet and sprinkled it over 12 tracks... Therefore people are calling it "poppy".
@joep321110 жыл бұрын

It's less about melodies and more the tone of Spencer's voice that gets me. Somehow he managed to make it sound more sugar coated than some of the previous songs from past releases. Its more obnoxious and less subtle in delivery, if that makes sense to anyone. I give it the benefit of the doubt though, since his voice always kinda sounded like that and always managed to complement the music quite well - this song being no exception.
