Matt likes doubles on the bass so much he is doing left-right-right-left-right-right patterns on the bass drum for some sections. So cool!

i never noticed that in the last 5 years. great eye, really interesting. I went to clinic of his, he said his feet take a long time to warm up and he envied Alex Rudinger because hes ready right out the gate. Maybe he does the double because he can do clean?

Not sure if it's just the writing but has anyone else noticed Matt's really stepping up his game for this album? Like he's always been incredible, but this is just pure beast mode.
@Mp5Drummer8 жыл бұрын
He said in the documentary that this album pushed him the most. I'd say the songs aren't as hard to get to grips with rhythmically but the drum parts themselves are just insane!
@Ordacleaphobia8 жыл бұрын
Kind of, I guess. I mean physically speaking the parts are more difficult than a lot of the earlier songs, but as a drummer, this is actually the first Periphery album where I can totally wrap my head around all of the drum parts and figure out how to play all of them. So...harder parts, but less complex parts, I guess is what I'm saying. In my opinion anyway.
@freakinsweet8308 жыл бұрын
+Ordacleaphobia I agree with this for the most part. In my opinion he's scaling back.. but it's cool to see him play stuff like this cuz you're just waiting for him to play something crazy.
@beto15804 жыл бұрын
I love, among other things, the fact that Matt doesn't rely on double kicks - that's fuckin' rare in metal music
@Hayden2002WX Жыл бұрын
It’s the only way I know how to play. As a metal drummer, I absolutely suck at double kick, but it has forced me to be very creative with syncopation and ghost notes. I would say that at this point, I am better off using single kick than double kick, even in the context of metal music.

I actually preordered the producers pack but there was an error when I tried to download the stems. It only let me download one song, then every attempt to download the rest would finish the download after like 150 kb and then it locked me out. Tried to contact the website, but no response. Same thing happened to one of my friends that preordered too. But then we were bummed to find out that "stems" in this case meant a stereo drum track, stereo guitar track, etc. We thought it was going to be all of that tracks so there wasn't really much for us to do with it anyways. :p
