Unpopular Opinion: You don’t need to trade either. Trae and Dejounte can work. But don’t rub the offense through the two. Use JJ to initiate/bridge the offense. Let Trae move around freely and use his speed to open up the court.

So I'm gonna say something that might strike some people. Nola needs a real point guard, and a rim running/defending center. Nola has a bunch of wings who would be great with trae. Nola needs to start trae murphy and pay him. They have way too many good wings already. What if Nola can give up brandon Ingram, jonas or nance and a pick or 2 for trae young and capela. Now atlanta can pay onyeka and move murray to the 1. I think this actually works for both teams. Nola is one of the teams that can protect trae. Also, atlanta doesn't have to blow it up. So your great idea is to pair Zion with Capela who won't shoot anything past the paint, and with Young who's playmaking skills aren't worth the defensive liability on a team that already plays their best when Zion is the one distributing. Also, yes Capela is a better defender than JV but you have to think of the ultimate rival, Jokic. In that particular matchup, JV has a much better chance of making it tough for Jokic than Capela does cause of body type. Jokic kills skinny frame centers everytime

Trae adds VERY little and never has. When he's hot shooting (usually cold 2x as many games as hot) he's electric....on offense. He's NEVER adding anything on defense, just taking away. He's short, he tends to loaf on D when his offense isn't running hot. Maybe its not his fault, he really shouldn't have been a lottery pick. HE would be best served as a 6th man, instant-offense, on a good, top 8 NBA team. HE shouldn't be a starter or at least not a player that averages more than 20 minutes. Trade Trae for whatever you can get. His trade value will be much lower than some glowing proposals due to that massive contract AND the not-so-secret issue of bottom-of-the-league defensive abilties. The Hawks will have to take back a bad or sizeable contract or two, hopefully just a year or two remaining. If they're smart, they'll find a good backup 3 and D (solid at both) wing not quite living up to he contract. Trade Trae, improve cap situation, improve defesne MIGHTILY and get far more consistent on offense (much less HOT, COLD, COLD, COLD, HOT, COLD, COLD games strung together) without Trae. If the Hawks don't trade Trae, they're mailing it in to be mediocre for years to come. Let some other team find a better fit for his limited skillsets and size limitations.

These talking heads haven't seen 3 whole Hawks game. Trae and DJ play well together. The problem for the Hawks have been the frontline defense and shot making. Trae is doubled and tripled almost every night especially at the end of games. I can't tell you how many open non contested shots I've seen missed. CC refuse to shoot beyond 3 feet and is a liability on offense. For the last couple of weeks these guys have been ballin with the likes of Vit Garrison Bruno and Wesly Matthews. They're playing defense and making shots and thats it. I watch or listen to them whenever they play.

@@unmhking Knicks had mutiple starters out, so did Cleveland. Clippers been terrible since the All Star Break. We beat Boston twice in the playoffs when it counts last year when we were supposed to get swept. We also lost twice to the Nets, lost to Porland, Pelicans and the Jazz, along with getting blown out by the Lakers and Suns.

🤔 Wemby would change Trae's entire career. Trae's biggest problem is that he adds absolutely nothing on defence and is one of the smallest players in the league. If he landed on the same team as potentially the greatest defensive player ever, that would change everything for him. He would literally just jack up lobs all day, probably get the most assists in NBA history, and end up being called a Top 10 All-Time PG when it's all over. Trae needs Wemby more than Wemby needs him, but that duo would dominate basketball for 15 years. They cancel out each other's weaknesses. Add some big wings to that meal and you're eating every night.
