Pro TIP---when getting the tongue of the tongue and groove ceiling planks to go into the groove----use a small scrap block of the plank to hammer against instead of directly hammering the previous plank tonge or groove. Pushing on it with the heel of your hands or hammering directly onto the finished board doesn't work too well and often damages the tongue. Using the block between the hammer and the finished installed plank makes the new plank glide right into place and forms a tight even fit seam.

Former Canadian soldier here, that tool belt is giving me serious flashbacks to the '82 pattern web belts I wore for a decade. Mind you, you can carry about 50 lbs of stuff around, which is handy.

You guys have good pro tips. I'm a retired Carpenter/contractor and I have a few for you. Number one the sawzall try flipping the blade upside down once you get used to it you'll never go back. Number two when setting next to your doors that require a jamming extension remove the brick mold and set the jams to the interior so the hinges are free. Number three, jigsaw when cutting material do it from the back side and you can always see the blade and it doesn't fur the material. From Mark

Car Talk once addressed how to adjust your mirrors: to eliminate your blind spot, adjust each mirror outward until you can't see your own car, at all. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I swear by this. It literally eliminated my blind spots. I look forward to all your new videos. The camaraderie of your whole team is great to watch-I let myself feel a little like I'm there with you. Keep up the great work, production values, explanations, and problem solving-with a soupçon of hijinks ~ LOL the bit where Jaime is planing the trim behind the door while Eric tries to get in the frame via looking through the window was exactly the kind of thing I mean when I mention camaraderie. A happy team is a fun team!

When I was 23 I bought a tool belt that I mostly liked and added stuff so that it was the perfect belt for me. It was leather, so I bought some leather, and an awl and went to town: Tape and square and nail sets and cat's paw and flat bar on the left; Hammer, pencils, chisel, utility knife pliers and screwdriver on the right side. My first job was on a speed framing crew in Colorado. I could pull my tape and pencil at the same time, then drop my tape back in while pulling out my square with one motion to mark the line... IF it was a 2x6 or larger, otherwise just drop the guard-less Skil saw right onto the line to eyeball a square cut. Very fast, and pretty dang accurate. Also dangerous. But hey, I needed the work. Later I added a back pocket for a water bottle, and a wrench holster, and a battery drill hook on the right front. I had a wide padded belt with no suspenders and BAM! Ready to rock. Dang thing was stolen out of my truck 15 years later. Fkn-A. I've never been able to replicate that belt.

Love the tongue and groove, love the bucket belt, too! Truly innovative. Also, HOT TIP, those bora sawhorses have little holes in them so you can screw on sacrificial 2x4 tops on them. Has saved many a saw blade kerf through my set of them. And you don’t have to lift material when sawing past the horse. Rock on!

Pro tip: at about 3:16 you’re having to skip over the sawhorse and move the board. Mine have screw holes so you can attach scraps to the top to be sacrificial. Idk - maybe real builders don’t need hacks like that, but I think I’ve saved a few for the swear jar…

Tip- cut a piece of scrap of the tongue and groove and have it in your nail bag, cut the tongue off of it and put the groove over the installed tongue length then you can hit that as hard as you want without damaging the tongue making it more difficult when trying to install the next length 👍🏼

I made my own shiplap for our kitchen ceiling from 1/2" plywood using my table saw and dado blade to cut the rabbet on opposite sides. Spaced the boards using a penny between each one. We painted the boards with a watered down white to try to achieve a washed finish. It came out pretty nice. Your ceiling looks great!

We use a lot of those disc/puck lights and we have found a 4 1/4” hole saw does an almost perfect job. The extra 1/4” allowed for the extra space the hinges need. All you need to know is the center of the light, and there you go!

Just so you know when you add a jam extension to a door like that, you take off the stucco or brick molding and put the jam extension between the brick molding and the door jam and that leaves the door jam flush with the inside of the drywall for your casing, and then it will allow the door to open without binding on the jam

Pro tip, you should never install a door jamb slammed tight to the framing . Tight to framing isn’t leaving room for expansion, as soon as everything swells up that door won’t shut. Hinge and latch side should both be shimmed for expansion/contraction . Also wouldn’t have needed to plain down the jamb extensions if there was room for shims in the rough opening.
