Got a new sub here man, you guys all have a flow, just easy to sit back and enjoy. No BS fillers and the work is top notch. The metal railing turned out amazing. When you first described it I thought it was going to look a little too outdoorsy, but it ended up really clean, and probably 10 times sturdier lol

Hi Eric and Jamie, greetings from here in the UK , a couple of suggestions from a fabricator regarding your Mig setup, Jamie have you tried “tip dip” ? Yes it’s a real thing no BS . Basically it’s a wax type anti spatter that comes in a 500ml tin, when you get a new welding tip and shield on your torch you’re meant to dip the tip of the torch inside, i instead have a 10mm glue brush that I painted the mig tip outside and the inside of the shielding gas nozzle and the end of the outside end part. After you have done that before you use it on your workpiece, just try it out on some scrap metal to heat up the torch tip and it takes the excess away. It’s an great tip as it saves your welding tips and shields from collecting the spatter inside and building up then dumping it in the weld of your workpiece! You can also use it like anti spatter spray too, gives you more control over where ares you want to protect. Try it out as most of the big welding suppliers supply it. Eric with your coat hooks 🪝 have you tried making your own hooks out of steel so you can can hang or move them around to the different slats.. we’ve done similar ones with horse shoes as a feature for you can move to different heights and widths to suit your needs. Anyway love the show and keep going as it’s a great show by far! Warmest regards. Phil

Rather than having to do that double cut on the hand rails, you can just swap the end pieces from one side to the other. It saves a bit on both material and time.

Like the steel additions to the stair well. One answer to the hand rail would be to make the mid bracing at the same angle as the hand rail. Then design it as an extension of that diagonal brace. A thought.

I've found with flimsy half-walls that if you thoroughly glue and screw a sheet of 1/4" ply to both sides it stiffens them up tremendously, essentially making it a torsion box. Make sure the plate is really attached to the floor well. Then sheet over the plywood with 1/4" rock, and you're good to go.
