It's Mojito! week here on TestDrive! We're looking at the action-packed 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon to see what off-roading is like when you aren't a pro.
PRN T-Shirts now available! Check out our original designs here: teespring.com/...
Our review of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is a little different from our usual episodes of TestDrive Spotlight. This time around we're talking about the car communities and the culture behind them that can make or break an experience for new enthusiasts, and what we can do about it. We discuss some of the limitations and difficulties novice enthusiasts face when joining a new community, and some ideas on how we can all make the experience better for everyone.
We also go over the Rubicon's load out and everything that makes it one of the most competent off-roaders you can buy. Base MSRP for this two-door JL Wrangler is $49,645.00 Canadian, with quite a lot of options and packages available to configure your Jeep just the way you want it. Ours comes in the Mojito! paint job, black leather Rubicon interior, cold weather package, both enhanced safety packages, steel bumpers, Trail Rated® package, outside white lettering on the off-road tires, the LED lighting package, black freedom top roof, and much more.
After our walk-around on this vehicle we hop in to take the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque and 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission on some off-road trails to see how the Rubicon handles itself on rough terrain. We test the vehicle on a well worn & beaten trail with obstacles, mud, and grade changes, followed up by a simpler unimproved road with rocks and dirt to deal with.
We wrap up our review on the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4x4 by going over our final thoughts on this vehicle including some of the options we'd configure, and our hopes for the future of new car enthusiasts who want to get involved in the community, whether it be for off-roading or general groups online.

Thanks for helping us newbies. I found this interesting, I've owned 4x4 Ram for years and go off road on fire trails. But bought my first Jeep today wanting to get off the trails.

I think it's also worth mentioning that in terms of car communities, there are communities for virtually every car out there. Chances are too that the more obscure your car, the more people are willing to help. I own a Mitsubishi RVR and even if it isn't the most talked-about car, there are enough communities with supportive members to make it easier to get into. Great video again though, loving the reviews

That's very true too. Plenty of options out there, the only issue I've started to notice about the quantity of car communities is the diminishing quality of them. There's half a dozen Kia Stinger facebook groups at the national/continental level, and it ends up splitting the community base.

Thanks for the great vid and newbie tips. I’m based in the UK and although we’re a small country there does seem to be quite a few places to go off-roading. I’ve been a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember, but hope to give this a try when the kids grow up and I have a bit of spare cash! Keep up the good work my friend.

Glad you liked it! I’d definitely like to try some more off-road trails with different vehicles. I’d like to see what non-Jeeps can do too.

You look like Indiana Jones 😇 I guess I wonder whether a vehicle like this is a good choice as a primary vehicle if you are not a off-road enthusiast. I struggled with its steering wondering on highway rides when I rented a sport Trim. On a long drive that was tiring. Otherwise a good vehicle that seems unstoppable and the V6 is definitely the way to go.

🤠🤠 If you’re looking to use it as a primary vehicle I’d recommend the Sahara over the Rubicon, the ride on this really firm, and you start to feel it after a while. Driving it back today on some of the rough Montreal roads at slow traffic speed was pretty brutal haha.

@@PRNTestDrive what about the Sport S? Thanks!!!!
@matthewhelm9623
@matthewhelm9623 3 жыл бұрын
@@tropicallyfit sport a is just a slightly upgraded sport it really depends on if you get it trail rated (rubicon shocks ) and like o have a rubicon it rides a little tougher but if you take it slow it’s never really bad it’s just cause the suspension is set stiffer to do more off road we stuff

Plenty of 4wd or Jeep clubs in Quebec and Ontario, but if you're not in a big city they always have a meeting spot when they are in the area.

Great point about Jeepers, some are very foolish and highly arrogant. I'll share my knowledge with anyone, that's how I learned by asking folks with more off road experience. But I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Since 90% of my off roading is beach and sand hill wheelin' in the Outer Banks, NC. I have to travel too far to hit good trails since moving to Virginia.

Knowledge should definitely be shared, I'd love to see more of that in the enthusiast groups.

i see a couple of new modell wranglers on the road but both of them long wheelbase version, with the 2.2 turbodiesel engine. obviously those new off road vehicle are way to expensive for average people for off road fun, instead old school small japanese off roads (with some bigger like land cruiser and jeep grand cherokee early 2000) are popular here among the joung, older and wealthy drivers just want fancy new suv. i dindt remember any off road amateur with a new and expensive car... and last but not least, some people from big cities bought fake mud to apply to their suv so they looks like drived off road, seriously lol
