It’s interesting that none of these doctors care to mention that there’s a one and 2000 chance of a perforation (which can be fatal) with a colonoscopy. However with colorguard there is a 0% chance of that. Same with a FIT test.

That's a probability of 0.05%. For a medical procedure, that is far above average reliability as the average mortality for an elective medical procedure in the U.S. is 0.17%. That's triple the probability you mentioned! That's why they didn't bother to mention it. Because it's ultra-low! You're more likely of dying from a freaking boobjob! It's amazing how little grasp of numbers and probability some people have.

But what if you get a positive Colongaurd test? Then a colonoscopy is required, no? Does a positive CH test = colon cancer?

I like the immediate results of a colonoscopy vs cologuard. I had a positive cologuard but have to wait 3 months before I can get a colonoscopy due to lack of doctors in the area where I live. Also I don't think my insurance is going to cover the procedure so I'm stuck with a $1,500 copay.

It took a month to get the test, a month to get the results which were possitve, another month just to meet the gastroenterologist which took about 3 minutes and cost 300$, and another 2 months for the procedure. I'm a week away from the procedure and wondering if a cancer is growing and the lack of urgency by the doctor.

Hi there, I did the color guard and it came back positive! I am beyond terrified, scheduled for a colonoscopy, if it comes back positive, I am seriously considering…….meeting God! I hope you did it and came back negative ❤❤❤❤

Two quick comments…..1. If you take the Cologuard test and it comes back positive your DR will recommend a colonoscopy to verify the results of the test. Some insurances will only pay for one screening test (the Cologuard) and not for the colonoscopy since now it’s called a diagnostic test. Also, according to my DR the accuracy of the Cologuard test is about 85% where a colonoscopy is near 100%. 2. The risk of death from the procedure is so minuscule that to me it’s worth the risk and peace of mind knowing my colon is free from polyps that can grow and develop into cancer.

Had the cologaurd test, came back positive, gotta get a colonoscopy, so just skip cologaurd and have the colonoscopy you will have to have one anyway

Right? Moreover, you can't remove polyps with Cologuard and polyps are the growths which are precursors to tumors that can be cancerous.

The video is not about how reliable a Cologaurd kit is. Its a discussion on the process and procedure of colorectal cancer screening and testing in general. Just pointing that out for the next person who thought it was so they don't waste 20 minutes of their life waiting for that.

Cologuard detects 92% of colon cancers. I just got a postive cologuard result yesterday.

@North95 mine was positive too. And it was correct. I had a precancerous polyp removed.

I just got a positive from cologuard last week. My first appointment isn’t until July 21st. Looks like a colonoscopy could be in the Fall. I am trying different places for earlier appointments. I have no family history of colon cancer. I’m not high risk. I wasn’t expecting a positive result. At this point I don’t care that I have to pay the copay. I just want confirmation either way ASAP so I know what my options are and a course of action.

​@Lilly Lightfoot I'm surprised that it would take that long for a positive result but I was also told at my colonoscopy that they had encountered many false positives which could be your case. Also it's my understanding that most colon cancers are slow growing and take years to develop which is why they can go ten year stretches if you don't have any problems with one. I'm on the every 3 years list due to family history and because of my last results. I do understand, however, that it's something you would want taken care of as soon as possible. I hope you can get in soon and for good results.

I have been using cologuard for a few years always negative, but I also do a fit test that I get from my primary provider just to make sure they both come out the same results

Is a fit test the same thing the one that you get in the doctors office and you smear the stool then you bring it back to the doctors office do they test that the same way as they do colorguard?

User beware : If you get a cologuard test and it comes back positive, you will need a colonoscopy. But here's the kicker: a colonoscopy alone will cost you nothing, but as in my case a colonscopy following a cologuard test will cost me $300. And I have good insurance. I recommend just getting the colonoscopy and skip the cologuard step.

300 $ !!! That's practically free.Lucky my test came back negative,otherwise my colonoscopy would have been 2000$,because of my high deductible.But anyway i would have gone to Europe to take it,100 $ there.

Just know that your Dr. maybe giving your phone number & email address to Cologuard & they will be calling, texting, emailing you all kinds of crap (pun intended). If I knew they were getting all this info about me, I would have done the colonoscopy.

“Ask your doctor today if Cologuard is right for you!”…ffff….you! Has nothing to do with whether or not it’s “right for you” and has everything to do with your ffff… insurance.
