Persol PO8649s Review

I bought this exact model on eBay for £130 about $180, used but in mint condition. I believe they're now a discontinued model. Persol are the go to brand for me, and this is the go to review site for them. I now have the 714s SM special edition, 9649s and these.

Yes unfortunately this model is discontinued. I've been searching it every local store for the last two years. This model is a perfect fit to my face and I really want to keep another one in spare.

I recently bought my second pair of these (first pair I think was stolen). The quality of the second pair I bought was definitely not as good as the first. The acetate has grooves on the far left and far right where the frame wire is supposed to sit neatly, and the acetate is supposed to cover the frame wire. On the pair I bought, the frame wire can be seen up to the point of the wire to wire joint!, and is not covered by the Acetate. It really looks bad and its even visible on the Persol website. (8649 not currently available, but the defect can be seen when I click through links in my order confirmation). Luckily, Luxottica are prepared to swap them out. Its really surprising that the defect can be seen in the professional photographs. Your pair here seem perfect, the wire is hidden by the Acetate where it should be.

Just found this model in Havana and green for a steal price of $100! I really love Persol shades but being an asian I can only wear ones with adjustable nose pads, which makes these my dream pair :)

I noticed that you have the same persols on your profile picture. They look a bit smaller than the ones you reviewed. Do they have a 53mm lens? I bought a small version but the arms bend a bit during the normal wear without causing any discomfort.

No its just sunglass hut is owned by Luxottica who owns Persol so they like too keep the prices high. Buy them from amazon and take them to a dealer to have them authenticated!
