You are simply the best reviewer of fragrances on youtube! Your charm comes through every time as well as your knowledge of fragrances! I simply do not understand why you do not have more subscribers. Always a delight to see every new review that you post. Keep on making us smile! Dennis

Oh my goodness, Dennis, that's such an amazing comment to receive. Thank you so much! And I don't worry too much about subscriber numbers :-) The most important thing for me is for people to find the videos interesting and entertaining. Thanks again.

New subscriber here on KZbin. Have been binge watching on a weekend where I haven’t felt well…I have been both learning so much and honestly laughing so hard. The stomach rumbling was hilarious 🤣. Interestingly KZbin has your videos jumping backwards and forwards by hundreds of episodes. Love your videos. It’s like talking nonsense and trading fun barbs between good friends. Unlikely I’ll get to watch live (I’m in Auckland, New Zealand) but I am so enjoying the huge back catalogue I have to view. It’s rare I sit still long enough to watch one episode of a show, yet I can watch multiple back to backs of your channel. Thank you for being you, sharing all you do and keeping it real (that includes the never ending issues with comments and technology) so relatable 🤣🙌

Firstly, I hope you’re feeling better now. Thank you so much for these wonderfully encouraging words. And yes, the tech issues never seem to end.

Evening from Singapore, 3 years after the release of this video! Revisiting this video to find out about your thoughts on Oud (Extrait): I personally own both Oud versions from MFK as well and comparing against the Oud vials I have from various sources, I find it a beautiful harmony conducted by Francis himself. Truly echoing the bridge you mentioned about his original EDP, the Extrait offers a more luxurious and decadent experience that branches off from the EDP. Looking forward to your future streams and stay safe!

Very kind of you to comment, especially on a 3 year old video. I'm glad you agree that MFK's Oud has much to offer.

How wonderful to see you on KZbin! Long time reader of your blog, here. Your live reviews are just as thorough and charming as the written ones! Oh, my. Niral had me at "iris". Can't wait until my sample arrives. I'll be interested to see how you feel about this one once you've lived with it for a bit.
@Persolaise6 жыл бұрын
That's so kind, thank you. I'm grateful you've made the trip over from the blog. So far, Niral gets a very definite thumbs up! Thanks for watching :-)

Your descriptions are very evocative. Now I really want to smell Oud. I loved Christine Nagel’s Rose Absolue for Yves Rocher and allready growing very fond of her Twilly.
@Persolaise6 жыл бұрын
Tania Filomena Thanks very much for watching. Yes, Twilly seems to be finding more and more fans. I must say I’m pleased, as I think it’s the very best of the recent crop of ‘young woman’ scents. It’ll be fascinating to watch how Nagel’s career progresses at Hermès.

I tend to agree with everything you say, and that’s probably why your channel is the only one I’m subscribed to, but I would have to disagree with you about Promise. The scent is perfectly aligned with the name and the concept of vows because it’s the closest thing I’ve smelled to the bakhoor that smacks you in the face when you walk into a wedding in the Middle East (by a Western brand), or at least Kuwait (where I’m from). Every Arab that I know that has tried it, loves it. But the difference is, there is air to breathe in a large hall, whereas the perfume can be suffocating. If you ever return to it, treat it like an Arab: only spray it on a thick fabric (like flannel) that can absorb its density. You might appreciate it a bit more. The Night and Une Fleur de Cassie are still my favorites though. Also, you do an amazing job at making it feel like we’re sitting in the room with you having a conversation about perfume.

Hi Ali, Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to write, but please remember that it's totally fine to agree with the things I say. Challenging disagreement can sometimes be really helpful and constructive, I find. As for your specific comments on Promise -- thank you! I love your suggestion and I'll definitely do as you say one day soon. I still have my sample bottle. Many, many thanks for watching. Let's keep the perfume conversation going.

Really interesting to hear your thoughts on Music for a while. For me it's a very simple, but extremely well done balancing act of pineapple, lavender, patchouli and that addictive yet borderline generic sweetenes from baccarat rouge 540. The lavender is the least tenacious of the obvious bunch and the pineapple note has bite along with an awful lot of staying power. Probably the best and least fussy fragrance from frederic malle to date. Although, like you, I'm not overly enamoured with the name.
@Persolaise6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. I'm going to be really fascinated to find out what other people make of it. I must say that my initial wear wasn't an overly joyous experience, but I do still give it top marks for bravery. That pineapple note! I remain undecided at the moment :-)

Dear Mr. P, I had my first experience of the Frederick Malle brand at Liberty's yesterday. The heat inside the store seemed to accentuate the pineapple note in 'MFAW'. (Around 28degs Celsius under the lights). I felt that it killed everything else with it's sour acidity. A real pineapple bomb. I became anosmic for awhile (now that will be a killer name for a perfume). There are other fragrances who have made better use of the pineapple note. My senses recovered enough for me to experience 'Carnal Flower' which, despite the heat held it's charm. I was looking around for 'Portrait of a Lady' which did not seem to be available, which was a shame. Maybe I'll have better luck next time. Looking forward to the next broadcast of LAFS.

Peggy, thanks very much for taking the time to let me know. Yes, the pineapple note is certainly proving quite divisive. Which perfumes handle it better, in your views? Oh, and the next episode should be on Friday... right here on KZbin!
@peggyhui9016 жыл бұрын
Fruit Defendu EdP by Terry de Gunzburg has a gentler pineapple vibe. Unlike many other gourmandy scents, the sweetness is reigned in. The pineapple note acts as a 'lifter' the way bergamot does. Makes me think of tropical holidays with cocktails at the bar on the beach, on a late afternoon with a gentle breeze blowing through, cooling the hot sand. You would not mind being in close company with the woman wearing this. This is of course, just my own impression at first sniff at LHR Terminal 3 Duty Free.

Peggy Hui Intriguing description. I’ll have to seek it out. Thank you.

I am finding the Malle enjoyable. It has a good zing for the morning which I would not find in an oriental. However I am not sure there is space in my life for it as well as Kiki so it might just be ' music for a while'.
@Persolaise6 жыл бұрын
Good point. Yes, Kiki does take some beating, although it's quite different from the Malle. Thanks so much for watching :-)

Love Purcell’s music but not the best name for a fragrance. I don’t know Malle scents well but I do have a decant of Poal which I love and a 10ml of the gorgeous and my absolute favourite Lipstick Rose and that is a perfect name for this stunning scent .

Hello Persolaise, this is my 4th attempt to reply to you, so I'm switching from your blog to KZbin, hoping my msg will arrive finally! ':-D I'll copy and paste what I had already written on your blog but seems to get censored out of unknown reasons( I swear again, I was very decent and appropriately behaved in my messages! :-) ): Ha, hello Persolaise, I do hope I managed to figure out how to reply to you here finally - this is my 3rd attempt and I do swear my previous two messages had been decent and appropriate (lol), but however they still didn't come through out of mysterious reasons. (Or perhaps because silly - me kept sending a new comment, instead of clicking onto the reply - button... X-D ) However, I wanted to thank you for your reply and that I do hope that Friday the 27th will be happening for a fact and - tadaaa - now I've found the information on your blog! Unfortunately I might only be able to join the live stream briefly at 4pm, but I'm hugely looking forward to it and curious which scents you're having for us! With best wishes and "yay" for Friday, Stefanie
