I am happily draining my mobile phone battery listening to this on the train, you are a man of refreshing candor!! Calyx was a perfume for advertising executives, PR mavens and high powered lady lawyers - it was seen as being quitely intellectual. No 19 was worn as an alternative, when you wanted to be taken seriously, you smelt good but slightly aloof... Almost untouchable😀

Seagreentangerine Refreshing candour? Thank you, I’ll take it 😊 I love your Calyx vs 19 comparison. Maybe it’s the fruit that makes the difference. Thanks very much for watching.

I absolutely agree with you when it comes to No 19. It is a proper perfume. I have never understood the use of the word cold to describe it. There is a difference between elegant formality and "bitchiness'. There isn't enough formality in this world, in my opinion. :) fantastic video. thank you!
@Persolaise5 жыл бұрын
Yes, yes, yes, totally agree about formality. Although I'm also aware that plenty of people can't abide formality. Thank you so much for watching.

No. 19 is my favorite perfume, and I have a vintage bottle of the EDP that I treasure. Great stuff.

New subscriber here. I remember Caylax. I worked for Prescriptives in the 80's when it was introduced. I loved wearing and selling it. It smelled like grapefruit candy. Ah, the 80's... :) Some things should be reflected on and not redone. In my humble opinion, of course. Thanks for your reviews!

Welcome aboard! And thanks so much for taking the time to write. Can you remember what impact Calyx had when it was released? Was it an instant hit?
@christieo17615 жыл бұрын
Not an instant hit for sure. You know, back in the day we were quite liberal with the samples. We'd spray those ladies down in store and give them a deluxe sample. Slowly we began to see sales increase. Calyx was so new with that grapefruit top note you had to get past it before you could really enjoy it. Sadly, by that time the ladies were gone. The market was still infatuated with fragrances like Opium and Coco Chanel. Calyx was so different in comparison. I loved it. I felt unique wearing it. It was another Estee Lauder 80's powerhouse though. Had to watch the number of sprays you used. Haha!@@Persolaise

@@christieo1761 Ah yes, the days of generous samples! I remember them too. Thanks for that info: much appreciated :-) It's good to know that the brand gave time for the scent to find an audience.

Your reaction to Naughty Fruity mirrors my own reaction last year to Burberry Her. On a more uplifting note, this is a nice opportunity to thank you for two years of learning, companionship and fun. You are wonderful!

That is so kind, thank you. I can't believe it's been two years! And I have to say: I have wonderful viewers! I always learn so much from all of you.

To restore your faith in Mirabelle plum, please try to find a jar of St Dalfour French confiture. Sweetened with fruit juice, the Mirabelle plum flavour is the most divine, IMO.

Ah yes, I used to love those jams. Haven’t bought one of them for years.

i've been waiting for your Cuir Intense first impressions. i recently tried Bois Mysterieux ("Songe"), but it wasn't a winner for me. i hope Cuir can please me better.:)

I tried Naughty Fruity today, but can't remember it being that ghastly. I'm tired of these TF releases. I'm planning to buy a Mugler Les Exceptions, torn between Cuir Impertinent and Hot Cologne. I need to properly try No 19. Speaking of vintage, I got lucky recently. Managed to find Eau Sauvage EdT, YSL Pour Homme EdT, and Samsara (EdP and Parfum)! :-)

Thanks for watching. I definitely need to give Naughty Fruity another chance, probably on (someone else's?) skin. Wow, that's an amazing vintage stash you found! Enjoy it!

Great reaction at 19 mins. Is it because you sprayed twice? The 2nd spray sealing your fate... Slow death by perfume. Yikes!

Yes, perhaps it was a case of overkill.

The combo of the "Naughty, Fruity" name & the assault we witnessed does not recommend this Mugler.
