I was very impressed by her last few movies - Camp X Ray, Clouds of Sils Maria, etc. Kristen is doing some really amazing movies nowadays. Excited to see Personal Shopper tbh.

It's amazing *because* of her performance. She honestly should get an AA nomination for this role.

she always have. Panic Room, Speak, Fierce People, The Cake Eaters, The Runaways, Welcome to the Rileys, Adventureland, Into The Wild. Theres just a handful of movies that were less impressive of hers, and usually she wasnt to blame, but either the script or editing. Even in cheesy Twilight series, if you read the books youll understand she not only portrayed it well, but actually gave this character more depth

Stewart made the loot with the lame Twilight series but now she can earnestly work all the arthouse flicks she wants- Respect!

I hated her *character* in Twilight (she played the part *perfectly),* but ever since then she has been consistently getting better and better, with both last year's Clouds of Sils Maria and this one being fabulous. She is one of our generation's most gifted actresses now, I think.

Kristen was fantastic in Clouds of Sil's Maria. I loved that movie. Looking forward to this. Word is this is Kristen's best role to date.

It *is.* And if you haven't already, I implore you to not read these other comments about Stewart. She has turned into a terrific actress and all the screams in the world from Twilight haters cannot silence that. See it because she is amazing in it. P.S. Clouds of Sils Maria was, indeed, awesome. And she was stupendous.

From The Guardian's review of Personal Shopper: "She gives a terrific performance - in that she’s awkward and raw; a splatter painting made flesh; a woman turned inside out. Stewart’s lines have a curious habit of trailing off at the end. Her gaze skips to the side, as though searching for an escape. Her detractors can (and *have)* identified this quality as evidence of poor acting technique, which is rather *missing the point.* You might as well accuse Holden Caulfield of being an unreliable narrator, or complain that Marlon Brando totally goes to pieces in On the Waterfront. Stewart’s very gaucheness is gorgeous. Paradoxically, I think it might be the making of her." Unbelievably well said and just another nail in the coffin for Stewart's detractors. I love it. :)

@mimi mimi I disagree. If you watch her in CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA she has a certain calm and confidence that is the antithesis of her performance in Personal Shopper. She does do thing where she searches for words, but the nuances of her performances in these 2 movies are night and day. Physically they are 2 distinct ppl.

She has a prescence on screen vulnerable and slightly neurotic minus the comedy that makes that work. Jittery. Great body that you get to see in this film ;attractive. She ain't Merrill Streep or Blanchette but perhaps everyone doesn't have to be. Hey man the movie just works for me, just. So B+.

You are in another world of stupid if you thought the text sequence was a "mystery." The villain was so obviously a villain from the start, and there was no other suspect. You can't have a mystery with one fucking suspect. It was handled disappointingly - there was a big build-up as if a revelation was coming and it never came. Stewart's performance was the only thing worthwhile about this movie.

I've seen plenty of her films, including her independent projects (Sils maria, Cafe Society, etc) but she always takes me out of films. I can't take her acting seriously. I've always given her a chance, but she always disappoints. I'll see Personal Shopper for a final taste.

Kristen Stewart can be really charismatic even when she's not doing much. Yeah that's how you wanna use her as an actress. Don't let her do to much. The quiet intraverted girl who stairs blankely into nothing is what she does best. And incidently this sounded like the most boring movie ever made, Which is not Kristen Stewrds fault though, but dear me i almost feel asleep listening to them talk about the film.

Trust me, it's a lot more exciting and entertaining than they conveyed it to you. It's still a genre film or at least one with major genre elements that the director deconstructs. He won best director at Cannes for a reason. It's somewhat unclassifiable and certainly original. They're just not selling this well.

This movie is bullshit, done professionally, but it's still so unsatisfying. It's about bullshit things that never get meaningful - ghosts making noises and that's it. I braced myself when I thought it'd be about fashion - but it's not. Nothing in this movie matters - doesn't have anything interesting to say about death or loss or love or fucking anything. It's frightening a couple times, but ultimately just unexciting. Kristen Stewart is an excellent actor who performs her boring character well, but the film sucks.
