The best way I can describe the engineering on this Elita figure is that it was made with the thought of “what if we made a fembot that doesn’t completely rely on shellforming?”. I kinda like the look. It’s not exactly show accurate, but it has enough feminine features without it resorting to whatever Earthrise Arcee resorted to & have a more proper transformation. We shouldn’t completely hinder ourselves with show accuracy all the time, you know.

Show accuracy is fine, but it's best to make your own thing *inspired* by it rather than *copying* it when making a transforming toy.

I feel like this (and arguably the blitzwing) are just like the thrilling 30 Rhinox, figures that have a lot of wrong details, but they still capture the “spirit” of the characters

Unlike the Kingdom Rhinox who just is a lifeless shell. And yeah I'd tend to agree to that, even if the Blitzwing is bad, it does capture the Spirit.

The backpack is meant to be extremely customizable, And this mold is designed to be both Elita and Minerva’s body so it’s very Genericize in both robot and car mode. Hence the bizarre not faux forming.

I do not believe that. The Altmode is NOTHING like Minerva's it's a lot closer to what few bad shots we get of Elita, in the show. If anything both were compromised because they were made more like each other so they can fit a mold together.

@@PerspectiveEnd Not show Minerva, IDW Minerva. Elita's toy is practically spot on in robot mode for Minerva, outside the obviously different head. Minerva's toy is basically only a redeco with a minor retool for the head.

Seems like a mold where two characters were planned, so they made something approaching a halfway point between them. Either that, or the point was to make Elita as she appeared in her high school yearbook photo. (Or someone should make an alternate head of her 'Ariel' form.)

I think it was probably more that someone on the design tean is a Masterforce fan but only superfans even know who Minerva is in the US, so they made Elita a premold to backdoor her in. It's okay though, Elita's not bad in her own right, and the shoulders just make her match with the G2 OP like the mini-smokestacks on her G1 animation model with G1 OP ;)

Perspective, I don't know, man, this has kinda blown me away. I must admit that the front of the car has to be squished togerher, but otherwise, the alt mode holds together in my case. She gives off these both odd and wonderful action hero vibes with these large guns. Her small stature also supports the, always great, archetype of "dwarf's fight against giant". The shoulder pylons are good, despite the hollowness I didn't even notice (priorities, I guess), since they're on two separate swivels - Laser Prime, a leader, doesn't even give you that option - so I always manage to get them outta way. But, to counterbalance all the praises, I had to tighten quite few joints (outside hip movement, feet) and cut some of that de-tense plastic on those feet.

This is what I like to do: Netflix Elita-1 is Ariel and goes well with Generations Alpha Trion, Legacy Elita-1 goes well with ER/Siege Optimus Prime, and POTP Elita-1 goes well with Galaxy Upgrade or even the upcoming Aramada Optimus Prime.

On it’s own I think this is an okay Elita-1 figure. It’s biggest crime is that it’s so clearly going to be a Minerva/Nightbeat redeco . Even before we even saw any leaks of the Minerva toy, it was pretty obvious from this design it was going to be a pre-deco. Again, it’s fine on it’s own, but it’ll probably be better as Minerva and the eventual Nightbeat toy.

I don't feel you on that, this altmode is a LOT closer to what we saw of Elitas in the few bad shots we got, than it is to Minvera's or Night Beats. Those are sleek this sure as hell isn't.

I actually quite like the changes to robot mode they did with elita. Ngl her og design has never really been all that appealing to me. It always feels like a precursor to the 86 newbie designs, where you couldn't really tell it transformed unless you squinted. I've always liked transformers that use their kibble to enhance a design, and elita's shoulder kibble really do it for me

I'd tend to assume that's because the movie designs actually came first. The episode with Elita came after the movie entered production and they'd been convinced to put Arcee in it. So Elita's design is a Raw Unfiltraited "Floro Dery" design with no one, and nothing getting in the way of him making them exactly what he wanted to see.

I bought this figure recently after finding it at a home electronics store. I haven't figured out the transformation yet, because it involves aligning the back of the elbows with the tabs of the quadruple-hinged backpack pylons, with too many degrees of freedom to be intuitive, but I like the robot mode.

I don't use the instructions either, but I don't find it that confusing. What I do is peg the wrists into the clear plastic first, that way it's easy to line up the elbows with the pegs.

I got Minerva, and I found on her, if you pivot the hands during transformation, it allows the sides to peg in 100% of the time. Not sure if you've tried this, but I hope it helps

Oh, yeah, I didn't notice that during the transformation part of the video. Yeah, you pretty much gotta rotate the hands to be flat side out for the car mode to fit together properly. Not like she doesn't have enough 5mm ports to hang stuff off of anyway!

Elita suffers from being Minerva's mold mate with her shoulders, and Minerva suffers from being Elita's mold mate by having an alt mode that doesn't come close to resembling that Porche, and with the mold being intended for 2 characters that have nothing in common besides being girls, the inevitable Nightbeat retool is gonna end up looking like a blue Minerva in yellow shorts and crop top with sunglasses. I hated typing that last sentence but I wouldn't have typed it if I didn't think it's true, just a heads up if we get Nightbeat in Gen Selects.

A recognizable Porche was never going to happen, though "just barely legally distinct for copyright reasons" was good enough for S86 Jazz (anwith a different model, CW Jazz as well, actually) so it could have been CLOSER I guess. I wouldn't actually mind Rule 63 Nightbeat, but perhaps they'll remold the chest plate as well... maybe...

@@dialNforNinja If Studio Series Jazz and Legacy Wilder can get away with "really close, but just different enough to not warrant a lawsuit", then anyone can. And the R63 in transformers has already happened in an official capacity, the first instance being that yellow Optimus Prime from Universe. They're robots, the design doesn't need to look feminine to be a girl, just say "it's a girl" and it works just fine.

Yeah I think both of these figures are being compromised by them being meant to share a space together. I don't know if either is getting more focus than the other. I think the mold was meant to be generic so it could be multiple people

Dang, I posted this just last night to the poster video, when this one was probably already in the can, but for the benefit of other commenters: OG Elita had those mini shoulder-stacks (which the PotP version turned into pistols for the Seeker mold shoulder ports, and now this one comes with two guns you can stick in shoulder pad ports... it's shoulderception!) to look more like G1 OP, but in this line we just got a remake of G2 OP -- now she has shoulder-fenders, and yeah, they were clearly because the mold was always meant for Minerva, but they also make her look more like that G2 OP. Maybe one of the aftermarket accessories companies like Matrix Workshop or Dr. Wu will take inspiration there for some filler pieces?

Legacy elita was obviously meant to be Minerva but no one in America know who is Minerva but they now who is Elita-one but idw published a mini series of the wreckers where Minerva is a wrecker along with alieron hot shot ricochet (stepper in Japan) circuit and thunderclash so hey another Elita-one I wonder if there any upgrade kit to make her swolelita one (I need to now)

I don't think that's true, the Altmode is completely wrong for minerva, it fits the few shots from G1 of Elita more. The comics are just based off this figure because they knew it was coming out.

She isn't the Elita I was hoping for in Legacy (that would go to TFA), but is my favourite version I own of her. I love everything about this stumpy girl, but not the ankle tilts, too limiting. Legacy Elita-1 looks cool. Like your idea of having the front car head lights be over her shoulders, instead of straight behind. Leave that for Minerva. Really liking the white/pink/red color scheme more in robot mode than in car mode. Speaking of. Sure, I wish her car mode looked more like this 6:25, but I'll live with her buggy car.

at 3:43 could this perhaps be a reference or something out of the depths of your imagination? cause funnily enough what you described reminded me of that one short for love death and robots (that good to meh anthology animated show on Netflix) that featured an almost one to one description of what you described as the horrors of elita 1's head sculpt. If correct, nice reference since it seems no one talks about how good and horrifying of a concept that is, and if not, still a very good and haunting thought.

I hope when you get it you love it. PotP Elita has a tribble Transformation and altmode, but I can't help but love the Robot mode. I think the hat is just a Replacement for a light bar. Good don't ever pick up that figure.

After playing with the Minerva version of the mold for about a week (Elita still being on preorder from Amazon) my conclusion is... it's wierd. Objectively, this is a mediorce design that has typical modern articulation or a little below and a backpack that isn't bad but does get in the way at the elbows and shoulders a little, and isn't even super fun to transform like, say, WFCE Sunstreaker... and yet, like Maximum Shellformer Cyberverse Arcee, I absolutely love her. The robot proportions, the vute little altmode, just the total package has found its way to the top tier of my favorite figures, one of the ones that jumps immediately to mind as part of why I love the franchise as a whole.

Because we are buying representations of the characters we love from the media. If it doesn't look like them, then it doesn't feel like the thing we want. There are people who not only want it to be accurate, but want a version for every single alteration ever seen. Look at Batman figures that are the same as all the others, but have specific Rips in their costumes to mimic specific episodes of shows.

I have all of them so far and they all feel like they capture the characters pretty well even with their new designs. But maybe thats just me, idk

I've been buying on Pulse, and amazon, and Nerdzoic, because they are all getting the figures at different times, and I've been hunting at stores every week wasting so much gas.

Wow your over 9.5 almost to that 10K you wanted. :) Thats pretty awsome mate! :) I just got the Legacy Blitzwing and though it's tank mode is a good tank it's still a shellt-tank and thats sad. :( I do like the robot mode and the transformation to get there but that jet mode is such a sad pitiful thing and I still cant figure out all the wingy bits so my episode of Blindformers might be very interesting because this jet mode is the most trashy unthought-out jet. The best part was the wing transformation I will admit that was pretty cool but still wtf is that jet?!

I managed to find the rest of wave 2 one day and just went for all of it, also got elita for free because target was having an offer for 25$ off of toy purchases over a 100 bucks. Also bought mpm blackout at target because fuck my wallet Elita is okay, I like her more than knockout probably but I think he’s a better figure objectively. The transformation isn’t terrible, but it isn’t satisfying at all either. I also do the thing with the kibble where I put it over the shoulders so she looks less like Minerva, which is who this mold should be.

When this figure got announce for me this was very strange and out of place, we already had previously an elita in the arcee mold not to long ago. Then suddenly this gets announce and for me this elita was a possible idea for sharing mold with another fembot but i was not sure who. Later i show this to my sister and she told me that she looks like a fembot called minerva and surprise surprise Minerva gets announce later, my sister was right. this means that this mold was meant to be minerva and she just got added as an after thought. heck she has many details that minverva has in IDW

I don't think that this was meant to be Minerva. I think it was meant to be both. Like if you look at the Minerva, it was compromised a bit to be Elita. So I think they were just looking for any two characters they could smash into one mold.

I already have all of wave 2 as amazon stocked everything couple months back and is still in stock at most websites here in the aussie lands. In other news I am sad to report that my Kingdom Grimlock has yellowed worse than I can deal with. It white yellowing I could handle but now some of the grey in the arms is yellowing and makes a very obvious discoloration. Shame as Kingdom Grimlock was one of my favorite Kingdom Figures and was the superior to the Dinobot in terms of tolerances which made it a personal fav. Now it shall be apart of the next lot of figures I am selling.

I will say that does look really close to Arcee, best seen from the front, but from the back still kinda falls victim to the "compression of vehicle parts into a valiant but rough and slightly oversized approximation of her shoulder pylons" compromise Arcee's design also has a bit of luxury _having_ those shoulder parts while everyone on Elita's team have no vestigial parts, I think

Okay, i have the Minerva mold, (which i actually managed to track down in stores, right next Red Alert because Hasbro completely forgot about him and never shipped him into American Walgreens,) honestly i think Minerva looks a little bit better than Elita-1, but it doesn't matter because her backpack is the LOOSEST thing i own. It comes untabbed TOO easily and will move when i tip her upside down. I also almost lost the lightbar because i thought it'd be on the vehicle already, but it wasn't. I'm just lucky i didn't open the car door, I'd have never seen that thing again.

I don’t this Hasbro would intentionally make a mold of Elita that is intentionally off from the G1 design in this day and age. Granted, none of them have been great (including this; it gets points for trying but is still in that pre-WFC "experimental" phase you mentioned), but here's to her EarthSpark design getting a decentish Deluxe figure sometime in the future.

The red part of the backpack has a tab that plugs between her shoulders. The pink part just kind of rests on top of that. The shoulders on mine aren't as tight as on yours but the hips are super loose instead. Also, the side panels in vehicle mode don't have trouble staying in place like yours do. Are you plugging the back kibble all the way in? Because on mine the square tab on the white armature always wants to push things out of place for vehicle mode, unless I give it a good push so that it seats all the way in.

@@dialNforNinja Ok, after handling her I’ve got some thoughts. The colors look fine in person. Not great but they aren’t offensive either. Individually the components are just awful, everyone but Dustup has a horribly compromised alt mode, robot mode, or both. Combiners require compromise, I get it. The problem is that Victorion’s hips don’t lock into place so her combined form is awkward and hard to maneuver, the car bots also make terrible limbs since their front ends flip around leaving exposed hallow parts prominently visible in combined mode. I’d like to keep Dustup but these gals are a box set so I think they’re all going to a new home sooner than later.

Why is Elita on the rise as of late? I thought the WFC Trilogy would be the last we'd see of her for at least a good while, but then she's released in this line using Minerva's mold, which fits the idea of Elita well enough but is half baked at best. Then she's appearing in the EarthSpark cartoon coming out as well which I'm not complaining about, but I'm still just as confused, since Arcee is also appearing in that show too. The design is definitely intended for Minerva. As for her face...ehhh...the box art seems like the artists went with the idea of the 🦈💩 crazy IDW version. Not sure why some of the ladies in IDW (before the 2019 reboot) had to be crazy. First Arcee, then Elita-1, then Windblade to a lesser degree (that Machinima "Prime Wars Trilogy" cartoon actually had her at IDW levels of crazy more than IDW)... I still haven't found her yet, either. But of the three, my favorite has to bee the PotP one. Sure, she's a hefty retool of the PotP Starscream (who oddly didn't get repainted into Thundercracker and Skywarp), BUT, at least she doesn't look like an escapee from a Megaman game. And she looks great next to the Voyager class Optimus Prime figures - Classics, Earthrise/Netflix, Legacy G2, maybe Titans Return G2, maybe Combiner...nah, fuck Combiner Wars cuz she sucks next to CW Motormaster, and especially the KuBianBao MP10V downsized KO of MP10. None of this dumb shit where they have her so short that she could give Optimus a BJ while standing up (PotP Elita-1 to PotP Optimus, PotP Elita-1 to TR Powermaster Optimus, Netflix & Elita-1 to literally any Voyager class Optimus). Legacy & Netflix Elita-1 have their place beside versions of her boo Optimus. Unfortunately, that place is fairly limited in options - Deluxe class Optimus Prime figures - and the only good options of those are Reveal the Shield G2 Laser Optimus, War for Cybertron videogame Optimus (called "Cybertronian Optimus Prime"), and Transformers Prime First Edition Optimus (which was only available in a two-pack with a Deluxe class Megatron for Hasbro, or as Arms Micron Orion Pax for Takara). The other options - Fall of Cybertron Optimus, Classics Deluxe class Optimus, DotM Deluxe class Optimus - suck ass. (But aside from Takara's rehashes of the RotF Leader class mold and Hasbro's Walmart exclusive reuse of the HftD Voyager class Battle Blade Optimus mold, all the DotM specific ones suck...)

And the altmode is a lot more like Elitas Altmode from what we see in the show. It's NOTHING like Minverva's Altmode.
