Brilliant! Listening to so clear a rendering made Jane's art all the more easy to enjoy and understand. Such perception of what is noble and ridicule of what is not, an education and delight. Simply Brilliant, well done Kate ❤🐑

Ms. Savage, I congratulate you. As an American, your British accent is excellent. Thank you so much for your good and generous work for Librivox. I have listened to many of your efforts (the Anne of Greengables series and the two What Katy Did books in particular are superb) and I applaud you and that you. Keep up the good work. My very best wishes. Jennifer Battiglia

@@salmynka1885 I slow her down in the settings to .75... almost too slow, wish they offered .80 or .85...

@@caroltaylor3414 They do. Go to settings, choose Play speed. Up in the right corner it says "Custom". Click on that. A slider comes up that gives .05 increments.

Lovely reading, so glad it's not in the usual harsh and grating American one. Just needs to be at a slightly slower and steadier pace.
@mosart70252 жыл бұрын
You can slow it down. I usually put Karen at .90 of normal speed. And a good American narrator works quite well for American books. But shouldn't be used for British books, which Librivox doesn't usually take into consideration. (Actually Karen reads quite a few books with no British accent.. Anne of Green Gables, for instance.)

I think this is read a touch too fast. The reader sounds like they need to get through the text ASAP. And putting it on 0.75 slows it down way too much. Hhh

Okay it improves after the 1:30:00 ish mark (where the mic clearly changes lol). I could hardly understand it before that
@quickchris10comcast6 жыл бұрын
I like the reading. Variations of speed can always be made by listener, or listener can back up . . .I would just assume they proceed reading at a good clip, slowing perhaps for dramatic effect at times.

'Obligated'? Jane Austen would never have used that barbarous word. It's 'obliged'.
@mosart70252 жыл бұрын
They have different meanings. "Obligated means required to do something which is usually prescribed under legal or moral necessity whereas obliged means to do something with no expectation of a return favor." Although some dictionaries show it the other way around.
