Coolness on the belly and the pads of their feet is what helps to cool pets...When they pant it circulates the blood which also helps to cool them...Shade and a fan are good ideas...Love those cooling pads😁

My 50lb dog lays on her cool pad a lot. Just wipe it off, I think covering it cutdown on the effectiveness. I sit on it myself. Have taken a wet towel and draped over my dog ( something we’d do at dog competitions) so I think the cool towel will be great. Thanks for the video

Hi Bob - I have had a Green Pet Shop cooling mat for my small dog for a couple of years now. She LOVES it. It took her 2-3 times of sitting on it to figure out that she was cooled by it. After that, she would go right to it as soon as we got into the car. The pad actually drops the temperature down 2-3 degrees, I think. I forget what it said on the side of the box. This is also a product you could use for yourself. So, buy 2 people. Use it to rest up against in a chair/seat. I’ve held it to my chest with a bit of pressure and enjoyed the immediate cooling effect from it. It is useful for your pets, even in the home, if you don’t have A/C. On the opposite side of things . . . keeping my little one warm in winter is also a concern. For this problem, I have found the Heat Seat - a cushion that ice fishers/hunters use for sitting on. It uses no electricity, has no chemical activation (like hand warmers, etc,) that only lasts a short while, and is VERY affordable. It works on a process of reflection of your body heat back up from the cushion. The cushion itself does NOT get hot, but you (or your pet) get right toasty warm. It’s amazing. Even through thick clothing. Again, my little one took to it in about 2 tries. I could tell how cold she felt in the car by whether or not she was on her fluffy pillow or on the Heat Seat cushion. It’s just the right size for her to curl up on (she’s a Japanese Chin/Shitzu/Havanese cross - about 20 lbs, but not fat, just a big girl). The one I have is round, but you can also get them in a square shape. For a bigger dog, maybe 2-4 square ones linked together in some way might work. Maybe sew 2-4 pillow cases together with the open ends out and put the cushions in there. Might work out, 🙂 I think they can be found in any hunting store like Cabela’s, etc. I bought mine at Canadian Tire (I’m in Canada) for around $25 dollars. Probably cheaper on-line somewhere. Thank you for all your great videos. This one in particular is relevant to all pet owners whether they be gypsies or not. Keep your videos coming. I have learned a lot from them even though I don’t live in an automobile. 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦

Bob, I just love you so much. You’re such a kind, caring, generous soul & I love your chuckle which makes me smile ear-to-ear. My Mom is turning 87 next month (7/2020) & I recalled watching this vid, found it again on your channel, & will be buying at least 3 chill pals-1 for my Mom, 1 for my husband who’s on dialysis & needs a kidney🙏🏼🤞🏼, & 1 for me via your Amazon link. My Mom has a little ADA compliant apt that has no cross ventilation; she hates running her a/c especially on high bc it cost so much on her electric bill. The chill pal will help us all stay cool in the heat w/out running a lot of fans & the a/c constantly or on high (low technically). BTW, I have a dear neighbor who I told to start watching your vlogs. We both were amazed to discover that we each unbeknownst to the other had been subscribed to you for 3+/- years. He’s going to be joining your caravan (is in his late 60s) & has bought the best products based on your great reviews & his own thorough research. I’m so happy for him & thrilled to know he won’t be homeless when his long-term living situation comes to an end due to factors beyond his control. His rig is a beauty w/loads of solar & a generator. Loves to cook. Needs a travel companion (has 2 queen size beds in his rig). I just know he’ll find just the right person to travel with before or during his travels🙏🏼🤞🏼. He’s planning to donate regularly to HOWA bc like you he’s got a big heart. Didn’t expect this life for his retirement years but is looking fwd to the adventure. See how much you affect ppl?!? You just never know the ripple effects of the educational interviews/tours/reviews you do will reach & how they’ll change lives!! Ty for helping my friend & giving him, & so many others, hope!💙🤗🦋

These are great tips. Thank you. When I had rabbits I would give them a frozen water bottle on hot days. If the animal won't chew the cover you can slip freezer packs into a sleeve made from a small towel or a bottle into an old sock or cut-off sleeve. Same for cold days, a hot water bottle wrapped in a sleeve can stay warm for many hours, even overnight providing some extra warmth. I really wish we had remembered to do that when it got down to 40 degrees and my daughter and I woke up really cold while backpacking in June!

Great video! I like the pet bed the best, followed by the MacGyvered Coolpal buff, as it cools the underside of the dog. Cooling the underside of the dog is more important than anywhere else, as that is where their vital organs that are prone to organ failure lie closest to the skin. That is why if you carry a spray bottle of water for your pet, it is important to spray their underside the most to promote evaporative cooling.

Thanks so much for these ideas! We're not on the road yet but our home flooded due to a burst pipe under kitchen sink last Sat and during our heat wave here in VA Beach with the hot dehumidifier's on in our home with the AC going our home got up to 95 degrees. I have a 12 yr old lab mix that I just couldn't keep cool. We only had a cooling gel mat from animal planet which didn't help very much and cold water on wash clothes. We finally had to suck it up and get in a hotel room for two and half days which was very expensive but we love our doggie! I wish I'd of known about these products before now! We'll def be buying these for our Bailey in case this ever happens again and we'll be able to use when we get on the road! Thanks guys for all you do!! Love and hugs from Va Beach!! Love to Cody too💕🐾

Thanks so much, Bob.. I'm in Canada living in a private RV park. They don't like the air conditioners going in the units when you are away and I work all day in a town about 1/2 hr away so have been insulating the Motorhome, best I can and using a fan on the floor but I still worry that my little dog is getting too hot. I've purchased all 3 of the items you've shown and hoping this helps my little girl. Alberta is getting up around mid to high 20 Celsius area but it's always warmer inside. Can't leave windows open as the storms here have been bizarre this year and I just can't trust the weather.. so, thanks to you and KC for these ideas!

Dogs sweat through their paws so standing them on a wet, cool towel like the coolpal is the best way to cool them. My Pomeranians sleep on ice packs and love it also I never cut off their coat...they need their coat to be cool. Misting your pet with a spray bottle is also effective in keeping your pet cool.
