We are starting to find the new normal after one week, but the house is going to need some changes as we begin this new chapter. What do you think, should I add anything else?

At the risk of being "that person" I started my dog on homemade sauerkraut as a puppy with her mashed sweet potato. The vet said it was the best thing I could have done because of all the good probiotics. For reference, she is a 77 pound German Shepherd now. I give her a heaping tablespoon twice a day. I don't mean to tell you what to do. I'm just the crazy dog lady that stops my car to pet a dog. :)

Oohhh seeing those gorgeous mountains makes me miss home😔We're in the process of moving from Tennessee to Florida. We lived way out & up in the mountains in a really small town. But I've just got to learn to deal with this heat & all the different languages🥴😄 The crate is so pretty! I don't think I've ever seen a wooden one like that.. Looks like A piece of furniture! I love anything made of wood.. large or small, from furniture to frames, decor, kitchen utensils and i love it raw, painted, stained..i just think wood is beautiful. Your sweet new baby is so cute!🐶 I know you guys will enjoy him so much! TFS😊

Congrats on the puppy. My house was built in 1891. I thought about redoing the floors then decided not to. I love the wear and worn down spots. Coming into the dining room from the kitchen it is worn down 1/2 inch and I love that type of character, to look at the floor and think of how many times someone had to walk across that spot to wear it down like that.

Such a fun episode ! About three months ago I got my second mini dachshund , sister to my first but a year apart. I have done many of the same things so as not to change the look of my 100 year old home. I use the top of my crate to stack quilts and also use a bag I got in England to hold treats and toys. Homegoods and Tjmax are the best for treats, toys and sweaters. The best bedding too.

Congratulations on your sweet baby. Dogs always make a home more lovely. One tip I have for keeping our home beautiful is to regularly bathe the dog. Every Tuesday our dog gets groomed, nails trimmed, a bath and a good brushing keeps our home fresher and cleaner and our dog more enjoyable

We took puppy wet food and put it in the licky mat and froze it everyday. This helped me so I was able to make dinner without the puppy getting into everything. I basically had at least 30 minutes to myself and my puppy loved it.

Aw, darling new puppy! Sweet time for all of you! For the first time I watched you on our TV and no going back, except to add a comment.😊 I've always loved your home, the age of the house itself draws me in, then of course, your design and furnishings are exquisite to my eye and heart!!💖 I chuckled when you spoke of life stages and changes, as we down sized/right sized for the two of us five years ago, moving four and a half hours from home to be near our children and grands. Well, our cozy fifteen hundred sq. ft. fifties brick ranch did not have a bedroom large enough for our king size bed!! Hubby altered the floor plan to enlarge two bedrooms into a master suite. The half bath off the original master was converted to a laundry closet, so we have all we need on one level! Our Lord was so good to provide a basement, as well! We considered that a deal breaker, since this area of OH has many tornadoes, a big change over the last twenty five years that our daughter has lived here! Loved all your great pet tips! While we're not pet owners, due to allergies, we love pups and kitties both!! Many 🤗🤗🤗🌹❤🌹

Ahh !!!❤❤ I have a 2 yr old Rhodesian mix rescue. Dixie came with a host of medical and behavioral problems that I was not aware of!! She ended up in dog ICU with in 2 months of me having her. She was also fear reactive 😢😞and many other things going on with her and still. The trauma I went through and money 💰 that I poured into her almost caused me to rehome her but I was determined to make her the best dog I ever had. And boy is she !!! one year later , I can not express how rich my life is with her ! we added a goldendoodle puppy 2 months ago and it was the best decision! ….. 🐕🐶❤

Such a great idea touching on this subject. Your new puppy is so precious all your pets are. I don’t have my own dog maybe kind of. I pickup up my grand doggy everyday so she won’t be alone and keep her with me all day until My son gets home from work. She is so bonded to me and my son said he can’t believe how much she loves me. I love her just as much she’s my joy. I love the dog beds and how they can fit any decor. I also love the flooring you want to get the color is perfect for your home. Welcome to your new family member. I loved seeing both dogs at the end of the video with Colby. ❤️ It was so sweet. “Enjoy the new changes in life and make them beautiful.” I needed that reminder. Some changes are very hard but I can look at them in new ways, knowing God is in each change to direct us us through life. That is comforting.

we had a ridgeback years ago and she was a great dog. they were used to africa to protect livestock from lions, (we heard) and we never had a lion in our yard, lol. i decided after fostering many animals over the years, and a house full of pet beds, i made duvet covers for the beds, then it was so easy to take off the covers and throw them in the wash. i could get fabrics that coordinated with my rooms and made life easier. enjoy your new puppy

My dogs are allowed on the sofa but my current dogs stay on the floor. But my sofa and ottoman are slipcovered in washable linen in case of an accident. I have multiple vintage dog bowls, as well as ceramic planters I use as dog bowls. You can get them from some ceramic artists as well

I love this soMuch!!! Yes, we love our pups... We have a LabMix rescue, an aussie, and 3 mountainCur puppies! As grandparents, it has kept our life full... I wouldn't have it any other way! Your new puppy, adorable! You said he likes to pull the sheet off. We have rescued many dogs over the years and found at night they sleep better covered. With one side open for air flow. We use binder clips. They come in three sizes and can be found at stores like Target and Walmart. Look in the office supplies area. We use them on the outside to clip the cover down so they are less likely to pull it off. We are in our golden years and our last rescue will be our last. You never know we might be asked to help another one someday. Becca is a 5 lb schnauzer Chihuahua mix with long hair.

Adorable puppy! I got one 1 1/2 years ago after not having one for many years. Wow lots of work but more joy. I got a chocolate cocker spaniel and he’s so adorable his name is Bennie. He’s quite the character and spoiled rotten😊❤️

Glad you got pup to learn from Kira! Loved that she didn't seem to mind the little one. Could you let me know the color of LVF that is. Yes I love that color and looking at bringing up our rugs and putting it in out house. Out of farmhouse floors would not be possible to be redone completely throughout. I would do the wider plank. I could not focus on the color name and product number.

Pardon me for saying this, and I only speak as a pet lover, but the wicker arms of the dog bed look very uncomfortable for your senior dog. He needs a soft place to rest his head. ❤ He's trying, I can see he's trying to make it work.

I think the same thing, she does have several beds to choose from and continues to choose that one. But, I'm about ready to take it away and get her a true orthopedic bed since she is getting so old.

What a sweet new puppy and video! One thing that I do not understand is why you would cover over your old wood floors instead of refinishing them. My house has 200 year old floors. Your floors have a long , long way to go! I like your old floors so much better than the new product that you showed to us. Please explain your thought process.

We have a 250 year old farm house are are remodeling and found wood flooring under the old laminate. We thought we would refinish it but found out it was rotten in too many places and would have been cost prohibitive to refinish so we went with the type that Sarah is looking at. It is pet and kiddo friendly, easy to clean and looks like wood. We love it.

Thank you! Our floors are fir, so they are super soft and the dogs scratch them mercilessly. We have refinished them twice in the last few years and they look so beat up no matter what we do. The thought of having to move out of our house for three weeks and then see them damaged in one year is too much for me.🙈🙈

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your old floors. My floors are made from heart pine. We had to have a few boards replaced so we found a flooring company that used wood that was taken from an old house and was the same type and age. I really love the imperfections but I do understand it’s a matter of personal taste. I similarly like decor and furnishings that are faded, tarnished, weathered, and worn.

Sarah, your puppy is adorable!! What is her name? We, just last week in fact, did exactly what you want to do with your floors. I chose Evoke "Mariana" and it looks a lot like your choice in color and style but ours has just a bit less obvious plank variation in a way. It's to look like oak but looks farm house appropriate for our 1895 farmhouse in Sammamish. I love it so much but our dog is afraid to walk on any wood type floors so now I have to buy a bunch of runners, which is going to ruin my decorating look, hahaha! oxJulia

Different wood floor products have different amounts of traction! Experiment with the product before doing the entire floor and finding it’s too slippery for your dogs.

@@rides2fly Obviously; we picked one with good traction, but you don't understand our dog. We had first generation Pergo previously and this new floor has a lot more traction than that. We took planks home first to sample but there is no way to make a large enough section with the samples they have so that's not helpful. Our dog is afraid to walk on anything wood, concrete etc. He slipped as a puppy and now thinks any floor is slippery. We tried booties and then socks and he acts like it's a punishment. The only thing he will walk on now are runners :o)

We have only had one bad day, we are trying really hard to give extra love to Kierra and think it is working.
