The 8 stops of IBIS is a big deal to me. Anything that allows me to leave the tripod at home and take a monopod instead is a huge plus.
@Bayonet1809

@@sethcashman1011 I did not mention ISO 80 as an improvement, because, as currently implemented by Fujifilm, it provides no advantage at all (and potentially some disadvantage). Jim Kasson has demonstrated on his blog that all it does is in-camera black point subtraction (only at that ISO setting), throwing away data, effectively cutting read noise in half to artificially make it look like improved dynamic range.

@@jessejayphotographyIt is easier to develop a stabilisation system that performs well for a specific test, than one that performs well in all the variability of the real world. For this reason CIPA ratings are usually a significant overestimate of real world stabilisation performance. So I wouldn't throw away your tripod just yet, as unfortunately you may find it still to be necessary.

@@Bayonet1809 Gordon Lang already achieved 1/5th of a second handheld from the new 100SII. That is good enough for me. In the real world 1/6 or 1/8th would be all that is needed for a single exposure waterfall shot.

My first job out of college in 1966 was working for Dick Boyer Studio in Chicago. Dick was the highest paid commercial color photographer in Chicago (Vic Skrebneski was the highest paid B & W photographer). All our studio work with models was done with standard Hasselblad lenses and big strobes, but most of our location work with models was done with a focal-plane-shutter Hasselblad and a big, blue metallic 500mm f4.5 lens form somewhere in Eastern Europe. Nobody talked about bokeh in those days, but Dick Boyer’s trademark was wildly out-of-focus backgrounds made with a full-frame Hasselblad and that fast 500mm lens. Whenever we traveled by plane for location.shoots, we flew first class and Dick carried on his big blue lens.

I loved Skrebneski's work. If you can point me to Boyer's I'd appreciate it (can't find much). Funny, was thinking that recently re: bokeh. I used an OM-1 in the film days and got mega bokeh from my Vivitar Series 1 80mm macro. That sucker was heavy but made beautiful images.

@fotografalexandernikolis 6 ай бұрын
@@punn1692Has anyone said the footage can't look good? It's not hard to figure out that you have to keep different factors apart from each other. Those aren't mutually exclusive things. For X-T5 it's a clear downgrade in video spec because it can't shoot 4K HQ or 60p from the full width, while X-T4 could. Only X-H2 can shoot full width oversampled from 8K. The footage looking good does not exclude criticism on other factors.

I can only say that from my experience owning the 100s. The way I describe the 100s is that it is my midlife crisis camera. It is a nice camera to have, but I have no real need for the camera. The biggest pain with the 100s was the AF, which could work great in certain situations but in others was a complete nightmare. Hopefully the 100s II fixes those issues. Knowing what I know now after owning the 100s, I would say that I have no need of the camera and I definitely could have invested my money better, but the images are still great, though Ido get a lot of hot pixels, which need cleaning up in post-production.

imo only if you need 100 MP or you want an equivalent lens that doesn't exist in FF system, otherwise there's not much real upgrade, there are several other tradeoffs such as AF speed, burst, rolling shutter, size and weight (lenses are extremely heavy especially when you compare equivalent focal length and aperture) etc, i use a gfx50r but only exclusively with fast vintage/manual lenses that's beyond any FF lenses FF systems are so optimized that there are often more downsides than upsides when jumping to MF

I’ve made the switch from a M10 to a 50R, a X100V and some glass and haven’t looked back since. I recently upgraded to a 50S II for the IBIS and better grip. But I’d say it really depends on your style of shooting. I pretty much only shoot static shots and landscape-ish shots so AF even on the 50MP bodies is absolutely fine for me, even in lower light. And the 100MP cameras are a lot better regarding AF. I just love the look of a even bigger sensor (especially nice with vintage lenses) and the native 4:3 aspect ratio (to me it has a more artistic vibe idk :)) But a skilled photographer with a good calibrated rangefinder will probably be faster than a GFX autofocus.

@@Morisato13I’d need to try to be sure but I doubt it. It’s not a sports camera. I use mine for landscapes so normally light is plenty, for product shots on a tripod, and the occasional portrait. I’d probably get some benefit from the better ibis and especially the better screens but if I was going to repurchase I’d go for the full Monty 100 mark 2 or whatever they are calling it. I think a used GFX100S is the way to go. The autofocus of version II isn’t that much better. If it was, then every video review of the GFX100 II would have done comparisons of the older vs newer bodies. Also, the sensor isn’t that much better if at all noticeable to the end user.

I've had mine for about three weeks and I love it honestly it's a brilliant camera. What does it do? Well pretty much everything. You probably wouldn't use it for a wildlife camera even with the new 500 lens but pretty much it can do everything else with just the most jaw dropping image quality that you'll ever see trust me if you get one you won't be going back to some other brand that has lower image quality. It's like having premium image quality is for me the most important Thing and that sounds a bit snob...... But once you start playing with the files and you've got this amazing latitude to pretty much do whatever you like with the true Artist comes out in me and this is an artist camera. It's for the Artist and that's kind of something that Fuji haven't really ever mentioned. This camera is for someone that wants to create something am. Okay video well it's a big camera. You really not gonna use it for video? Yes it's got 4K30. You can pick up a little Sony EV camera to do your video. If you really wanted to. If you can afford this you can afford a little camera to do your video on.... @@chrisklugh I print 60 inch wide prints. It absolutely makes a difference when I compare my crop sensor, full frame, and medium format prints. Of course nobody is going to notice on a phone or laptop without zooming in, but anyone who wants to print big will definitely notice a difference. And then there’s the color science which tends to be worlds better on medium format, particularly Hasselblad

I would like to something like rolleiflex with 2 mounts and capability to stitch 2 images vertically and horizontally either in panorama/tall or stereo depending if both lens are the same. If not, it would be closeup and tele. That would be ultimate camera, and will beat smartphone. Large monitor on the top would be icing on the cake. All for 2K body.

Probably the same as the 100II, which is why they didn't test it.

Let's not exagerate. We all know once the medium format cameras were expensive, but still, this is a 8k body. Not quite for the "masses". I'm a GFX 100s owner and I would not consider an upgrade too soon, unless I will have a rain in the revenue.

Man, the videos that Jordan shoots with Fujis always look SO crisp and contrasty. You can see the difference between the two videos you posted today. I’ve commented the same thing on your previous Shot-on-Fuji videos. Reckon it’s X-Trans vs Bayer, or Flog vs Vlog/Slog/Clog that I always notice?
@Bayonet1809
@Bayonet1809 6 ай бұрын
Not X-Trans vs Bayer, the demosaicing won't have an effect on picture-level colours. The gamma curve and picture profile will of course.

But can they actually provide better image quality, than a high res full frame camera with a good lens?
@mortenthorpe

You’ve obviously never seen, much less edited, raw files out of a GFX! They are way way better than full frame..sorry to burst your “Sony marketing bubble”
@Bayonet1809
@Bayonet1809 6 ай бұрын
If you consider full frame image quality to be 2.3x as good as APS-C then 33x44mm medium format is 1.68x as good as full frame. That is all there is to it at a fundamental level.

Almost all GFX lenses have very slow (and noisy) AF, so a better AF performance of the camera doesn't play the deciding role. If the algorithm is the same: the AF tracking of the XH2/XH2s is years behind the (FF) competition, so frustration is probably guaranteed, even with the fastest focusing GFX lenses available.
