I actually do this daily, it's kind of a variation on the split hand drill, but it's about muscle memory. As Pete says, it is just not physically possible to groove in a swing change on the course or even at the range fast enough. You need to practice the movements for reps.

Great and looks very easy ,is it the hands or arms or shoulders or even hips bringing the flag down,I agree it should stop the slice and hook shots but please explain the sequence in slow motion

it's such a squirly move before impact...not quite a hockey strike meets some sort of drive pulling up release twist. for the left arm to stay straight you have to almost..."spin past the ball" before you strike it... while staying closed from the inside....thx for this, a really helpful drill.
