conan has tried to push Pete Holmes for years, i think because Conan saw his younger self in Pete. But that is how showbiz works, if someone made it with their formula, they expect somebody else with similar ingredient to make it far as well. But Pete lacks many things from Conan. He was a kind person, not a typical douche comedian. But he lacks, quick wit and intelligence to pull it off. Conan produced his show once then it was cancelled. It is clear he couldnt follow his mentor footsteps. Great to see Pete finally caught attention with his Batman parody now, but he need something else to keep going.

It's sexual harassment/assault in both cases. I don't think Pete Holmes was saying that what the woman did was okay. But since he was the victim of her assault and didn't seem upset by it, he was able to make a joke about it.

@@FriendlyCroock , that's how I read it too. Not a reward for good behavior but a tactic to deescalate the situation, get her to let go, and move her along. If you throw a raw chicken to a crocodile to stop it from eating your child instead, you're not rewarding the crocodile. You're distracting a predator.

the reason i used sarah silverman as an example is because she is also a comedian, which in the story, pete holmes' crew took the sexual assault as an opportunity for comedy, rather than treat it as the crime it is. my point is, had a similar thing happened to sarah silverman, in the same context and all, if the people around her reacted in that way, outrage would ensue in the mainstream media and mainstream pop culture. and also, your argument that because pete holmes is a massive guy therefore it minimizes any sexual assault on him is rather silly.

I dunno if anyone would dare to grab Sarah Silverman by the testicles. But to be frank, Pete is just that kind of comedian - he's quite low-brow. He's got lots of sex, farts, sometimes nasty details in his jokes and sketches.
@malvavisco107 жыл бұрын
Hmm this is basically sexual assault, which really isn't funny...
@janeeyre19902 жыл бұрын
It is sexual assault. And what the woman did is not okay. But what makes the joke okay, for me, is that the one telling the joke is the VICTIM of the assault. That's completely different from someone who doesn't identify as a victim or survivor of assault making jokes and laughing about OTHER PEOPLE being sexually assaulted. Survivors of assault can use humor to understand and gain control over what happened to them. It's a coping mechanism. That's my opinion.
@Deadpool-kb5yo7 жыл бұрын

I understand what you're saying but please don't fall for that stupid mgtow crap. You're giving the racist radical left what they want. Our wonderful mgtow brigade hates white women just because of a few white feminists. So it wasn't enough that we had a lot of anti white racist hatred from the left now we have from the right as well. Most white women in this country are not even close to that. They're beautiful, they're educated, they're God fearing and far from feminism. The state of white folks under the racist radical left in the west worries me more and more every day. I have no idea where we will be in a few years from now.
@janeeyre19902 жыл бұрын
What the woman did isn't okay. But what makes this joke about sexual assault okay, for me, is that the one telling the joke is the victim. That's totally different from someone making a joke about OTHER people being sexually assaulted. I think about being a teenager when I knew people who had not ever been sexually assaulted yet they loved to make rape jokes. My friends who were survivors of sexual assault would ask them to stop and they wouldn't. Making a joke about being assaulted, regardless of your gender, is a way to take back power over what happened. You can control it and understand it by seeing the humor in it. Making jokes about other people being assaulted is usually cruel and crass.
