Nice use of the o ring. Good way of improvising to keep that little spacer in place.

I have a stihl 130 and just use the string and it will cut like crazy. I also have a stihl 91 and I bought a saw blade for it plus the 3 sided blade but I didn't think it was cutting very fast so back to the string. I did buy the echo quick loading string trimmer head which makes it load the string faster. When I lived in Florida I had a quarter sized field and bought the 130 because I couldn't see the ground at all and it was a good thing because I found a steel pipe sticking out of the ground with a log chain hooked to it. I was going to just mow it and take a chance. Where i live now in Missouri we have more property and the different pastures were very tall and the people before us had a tendency not to pick items up. I started off by using the trimmer and got down to just a 10x10 area and thought i would mow the rest with my zero turn mower and I hit barb wire. Of course it stopped the blades and they were twisted around the blades. What that did was tear up the crankshaft on the mower. I took it into the dealer and they machined a piece that fixed it but when I run the mower it has to be at full throttle otherwise I would have to have them put in a new crankshaft.

I've used that blade also. Works amazing for brambles, and vines. Like others have said though you really wanna wear all the protection you can put on. It definitely throws some mean debris back at ya. Also a higher cc trimmer really is better for running that weighty blade. Awesome job great video!

I have a couple of those i used a lot during initial cleanup of my land. They worked GREAT, however I HIGHLY recommend wearing thick leather chaps, and not jokingly if I had actually still had a cup from my martial arts days, I would have worn that. This thing threw up chunks right into my upper vulnerable areas enough times that I ended up with purple welts several times that hurt quite a bit. With that said, I ended up wearing my chainsaw chaps as an extra layer to my jeans, and while it still wasn’t comfortable, It took a lot of the hit out of any wood or rocks that it may grab and throw up. I also HIGHLY recommend a hard hat with a full mesh chain saw face shield just as he does in this video. Just my advice.

That blade is made to us with an up and down motion, not side to side. The up and down movement cuts brush, vines etc into smaller pieces that you dont need to clean up. Works amazing on blackberries here in the Pacific NW

i have one of these blades and love it, just use extreme caution because when you hit something like a rock, post or stump etc it sends it the blade back at your feet, it gives new meaning to kick back lol but it does a great job you can even mulch a sapling or brush by coming down it from the top

Great video, not only you review the product but also go through the install process along with a temporary fix for the flawed 1 inch spacer (clever)! Thank you Pete

I like that o-ring idea. I bought the 3-blade style from Oregon, the original designer of the mulching blades, and it's been fantastic. There are a lot of reviews of them from guys over in England, and seeing them chew through briars and brambles was good enough for me! Way better than trying to get into the thickets with a loppers and such!

My favorite blade. I sharpen the bottom and sides to tackle vines and saplings! Even swamp grass flies. Mine is black with more squareed off end blades. Love that I can cut a very long swath in one tank of gas!

Been using the Oregan mulching blade for a few years ,and they are fantastic! They do recommend that your trimmer us at least 30cc. I use them on my Husqvarna 535LK, and they amazing, they only cost about £12 in the UK!

I bought a brush cutter attachment for my Echo PAS system. Then I bought another blade for it, which had a different size center hole. Both were Echo blades. I bought another blade adapter for the different size hole. Echo has adapters for both size holes (7/8" and 1", I think), and you wont need to rely on that reducer that comes with the Oregon blade, Of course, the rubber o-ring is cheaper. I just ordered one of these blades.

That's a badass blade with enough engine behind it. Would be literally unstoppable. I just wish they had a 12" blade exactly like that but without the curved down winglets on the tips that could eat the ground when clearing brush and very tall and thick grass.

Dude, those privets are easily shaped into a hedge.. once you get it trimmed they are actually a great liner of the driveway, but when you let them go they go crazy.

I think you better get a spacer/ring as thick as the blade maybe one tenth of a mm thinner.

What brushcutter are you using? Should be top end heavy duty, and I’m pretty sure you are using something lower down the stack? Likely break the brushcutter gearbox.

I would have fabricated my own washer to the correct thickness . The rubber is going to over heat and fry under that much power propelling the blade . the rubber is dangerous .

Doesn't seem very effective vs a brush mowing attachment for a tractor.. obviously a tractor is way more expensive but this will take you all year at this rate.
