The breakdown was unfortunate but I’ve put a lot of hours on the machine and it hasn’t been running the strongest the last ride or 2. I was really hoping to limp it through the weekend but in the long run it was a good thing this happened. Now it’s being refreshed and it will be back better then ever 😊👍

I want to put spacers on my raptor also do you have them on the front and back pete?
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
I currently have the front spacers on. I only went with 1 inch spacers because the wider the spacer the more stress on your suspension components and you’ll increase your bumpsteer making for a tougher ride. As long as your not doing a ton of jumping they can take standard trail abuse depending on the spacer design. Alternatively, the best route for safety and longevity is wider a arms and a wider axle, however this can be very expensive so I understand the spacer appeal. The main reason I removed my rear spacers is because my axle is slightly bent.
@amugs33144 жыл бұрын
@@PeteHager I see, i think I will do the same. I think my axle is bent too. Lol

Can u use stock raptor tires at the sand dunes ?
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
Definitely, the paddles help the most when initially moving from a dead stop. Once you get your momentum going you can scoot around with dirt tires no problem. Sand tires definitely are worth the investment in the long run if you'll be riding sand regularly. I'll have my own set for my next dune trip!

How is it riding without paddle tires on a quad there?
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
It’s fine when your moving but coming out the hole is pretty sluggish, especially when the sand is super soft and dry. We actually were going to throw a set of paddles on the machine but then this happened. The original thought was to ride with the nobbies and then switch to paddles and talk about the differences but the quad didn’t make it 😅
@morganthechevyguy4 жыл бұрын
@@PeteHager i was thinking about going next weekend. I got like new GNCC tires on a built 400ex. Might consider using a set of paddles tho
@PeteHager4 жыл бұрын
@@morganthechevyguy You can get around fine with nobbies as long as you park on flat ground or on a downhill slope. The only time its rough is when you stop on an uphill slope. What happened to my machine wasn't a direct result of the dirt tires but they definitely didn't help the already existing engine problem. Having paddles definitely helps the machine get up and go and you'll have better float with front sand tires as well

Raptors are extremely reliable. If you put enough hard hours on any machine it’s going to need internal maintenance over time. My quad has upwards to 150 hard hours on it and my mechanic said everything he’s seen for engine wear was very expected and some parts were due for replacement 👍
@b10-archive4 жыл бұрын
Raptors are some of the more reliable quads. If you get a "racing" quad like a 450, you have to do A LOT more maintenance to keep them running. Like you have to do engine rebuilds fairly regularly. Everything is going to break down every once in a while, but the trail/sport quads like 700 raptors, 400ex, ltz400, etc are all very reliable.
