This clip brings back so many memories. I caught Peter on this show by accident. I was performing at a club in LA and was staying at a friend's house in Venice Beach. On the 4th I turned on the TV and saw the intro by Oprah, and grabbed a VHS and shoved it into the VCR,.to happily capture the two songs Peter did. I still have the tape.

Just got back into watching Peter's performances after 20 years or so...wow...the older I get the more impressed and inspired I get...no one was more brave, energetic, or passionate than this man. For the uninitiated and skeptical (i.e. young), introducing him via Hugh Jackman has been useful. Peter Allen transends all talents!!! Miss him so much....

I only saw him once at this performance that was done in St. Louis Missouri while I was attending school at St. Louis University. I was so impressed. This song inspired me to learn more about Rio and I am finally going for the first time to Rio in 4 days.

On this day in 1992 {June 18th} Peter Allen passed away at the young age of 48. He co-composed two #1 hits; "I Honestly Love You" with Jeff Barry, sung by Olivia Newton John, it stayed at #1 for 2 weeks. In 1981 with Burt Bacharack & Carole Bayer Sager he co-wrote "Arthur's Theme", it peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks} by Christopher, the song also won an Oscar for 'Best Original Song'. And in 1978 along with Carole Bayer Sager he co-composed Melissa Manchester's "Don't Cry Aloud", it reached #10. RIP

This is beyond amazing! Why can't we have more performers like him? In portuguese we have an expression that fits well here: "deu tudo de si"! hahaha Spectacular, can't get tired of hearing this song. It puts me into a good mood instantly.

It's U that doesn't know what Ur talking about -- Besides being full of hate. When Peter performed onstage he gave it his all. The energy that he had was amazing! I met Peter on several occassions at the Concord Hotel, where I worked. When he booked shows there there were never an empty room-he sold the hotel out. He always chatted with the guests. He had the gift of making us feel like we were the only ones in his world. That doesn't happen often with many other entertainers. R.I.P. Peter

This is THE MOST energy-filled performance of any multi-talented performer...singer, songwriter, musician, and dancer--he did it all. I've seen Bowie, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Freddie Mercury, Bette Midler, Gaga--you name 'em--but this guy was embued with a talent that transcends gender and time. Hugh Jackman did great tribute, but couldn't begin to capture this man's talent that began as a child. His story defined his journey and development as an amazing showman from the Outback to Radio City. What a loss to this world without Peter!!!!
