This tender, yet powerful scene is from Peter Allen's Broadway musical Legs Diamond, which played at the Mark Hellinger Theatre from 26 December 1988 - 19 February 1989.
Despite the show's problems, most of the songs were really strong (especially, "All I Wanted Was the Dream", "Sure Thing Baby", "When I Get My Name in Lights", "The Music Went Out of My Life", & "Say It Isn't So") and should have been at least nominated for a Tony for Best Original Score. Strangely, nothing was nominated for a Tony award in that category in 1989.
