The writing was to blame for him as Spider-Man, as the dialogue had none of the wit or humor expected; simply put, he didn't have much of anything to work with there. However, as Peter Parker, I thought his performance could be summed up as "looking passive and resigned as the world shits on him". Peter Parker does have infamously bad luck, but I thought he just sat and took entirely too much misfortune and abuse like he DESERVED it or something. It wasn't a bad performance, but there was certainly room for improvement.
