You are right! The Cycle continues. Starts with the picking of flowers ends with the picking of flowers. One of the legendary songs written by Folk Rocker and singer/songwriter of our times the late great Pete Seeger. Done hauntingly beautiful by the greatest Folk Rock singers of all times Peter Paul & Mary.

Love this trio. They were an American folk group formed in 1961. They had a lot of great hits such as "Puff, The Magic Dragon", "Lemon Tree", "500 Miles", "If I Had A Hammer", "Day Is Done". They recorded quite a few of Bob Dylan's songs such as "Blowin' In The Wind", "The Times They Are a-Changin'", "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right", "When The Ship Comes In" etc.

Folk music doesnt get more authentic than this. My mother played this album on repeat. 🙂 I still love the music of that era. The harmonies were a big part of my personal attraction. This, The Mamas and the Papas, The Hollies, The Bee Gees, The Byrds, Crosby Stills Nash and Young. And more. It was the golden age of popular folk music. WTG for playing this one.

Oh my goodness!! I can't believe it!! 1 of my favorite folk singing groups. Saw them in concert at the pier 6 Pavillion in Baltimore back in the early 90's or late 80's. They were so good. 60's music , or 1 genre of it. So happy you are reacting to them. The Vietnam War was still going on, and a lot of these types of folk singers sang very powerful songs. Bob Dylan was another great one. I believe someone else mentioned him also in the comments. Thank you so much, Saeed. You just made my night 😊. Love and hugs to you and your family. ❤️🫂😊

I saw Peter, Paul, and Mary twice in the 60s. They could engage an audience like no other performers we had seen before or since (and we had a lot of talented, big name individuals and groups making the rounds back then). No matter how big the audience, it was an intimate experience. And they had such a variety of songs - sad and thought provoking like this one right up to energetic, rousing ones. They were just terrific.

@@SaeedReacts. Hurricane is his ultimate storytelling song. Like a Rolling Stone is probably his most famous song, and Positively Fourth Street has a similar theme. A lot of his earlier work is stream of consciousness that leaves a lot up to interpretation, so you'll probably enjoy anything by him.

This song was performed for their, 25th Anniversary Special Concert on PBS. It is available to watch on youtube. They sing all of their hits. I can tell you, the majority of the people in the audience didn't need PP&M to tell them the lyrics. They already knew them. Throughout the aforementioned concert, you will see the audience sings along to just about every song PP&M sing... most songs are sung with tears. Thanks for your reaction. Take care and be well. Peace.

Thanks ! was curious so I researched it ... " American singer-songwriter Pete Seeger wrote the folk song "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" in 1955. The song was inspired by a traditional Southern Ukranian Cossack folk song called "Koloda-Duda" and an obscure Russian text that Seeger read ." The song “Koloda-Duda”, translated has the lyrics : “ Where are the flowers, the girls have plucked them. Where are the girls, they’ve all taken husbands. Where are the men, they’re all in the army.”

There are some, but spread across different genres and styles of approach. I just listened to Within Temptation - Fools Parade. That one is in support for Ukraine. Ofcourse totally different than this, but the sentiment behind it comes from a similar place. Sonata Arctica is a band i have been checking out on the channel and they talk a lot about these type of topics. The market is just so saturated it can be harder to find this stuff or to have a big hit when you go this way.

@@justwondering5651 Guess you cannot please everyone... I love seeing LIVE when still a iconic performance that really needs not be faulted. All the song's emotional meaning and content is fully here and even more so LIVE and with audience participation. Very few live versions of songs I found far inferior. Most just being shorter versions vs performance. Occasionally, a live might be truly sub-par. I remember seeing a Meatloaf (the singer) live one and the only time I felt was a poor version in bit out of tune I felt. This one by Peter, Paul and Mary in a ICONIC older performance in full color and quality sound vs many others from shows is still GREAT.
