I'm a sub 10 handicapper and I've been using the TS3 8.5deg with Tensei stiff for over 3 years now... It's still the best fit for me. Low spin, high launching and quite easy to hit. Would also recommend the Taylormade Tour Response ball for mid swing speed fellas.

I recently picked up a TS2 as a backup driver to my Rogue driver. First two rounds, sliced everything no matter what setting I used. Then I increased the sole plate weight to 2g and my drives straightened out. I'm looking forward to warmer weather this spring because I'm expecting more roll out from this driver than I get from the Rogue. If I can continue to hit 65% of the fairways, I'll be really happy.

TS2 is the "anti-twist face"... swing speed 85mph, felt great to me, easy for me to control, pops off the face, very consistent (aprox 15 yard dispersion for me). My top end drives with my current club are about 215-220, that became the standard distance with TS2. Highly recommend you take it for a test drive, it'll be on my Christmas list :)

Andrew Grima Hi Andrew, I believe he means it’s straight face which is very straight when you see one, twist face has a bulge effect and is curved compared to the Titleist, I’ve recently bought the TS2 which does take a little while to get used to but believe me when your fitted correctly you’ll definitely see a difference in distance and dispersion meaning front to back with off centre hits it really doesn’t loose much distance at all. That’s my take on what you needed to know hope this helps.

@@geordietoonforlife.1155 what does adding a bigger weight on ts2 do? I noticed you can
@geordietoonforlife.1155
@geordietoonforlife.1155 6 жыл бұрын
Rob Mclain Hi Rob, adding a bigger weight makes the centre of Gravity bigger in terms of helping on miss hits but it should also increase the spin rate which could be good if you have a low spin rate, however most golfers have to much spin on the driver and when the ball lands it more or less will stop dead and won’t roll out far so be careful and get fitted if you can. Hope this helps you.

I just had a fitting for the TS2/3 today. Surprising to both myself and my coach, the heavier the shaft, the more consistent & accurate my shots became and clubhead speed also improved. I ended up getting the best performance from the 9.5 deg. TS3 (in neutral position) with the Evenflow shaft. We think the heavier shaft improved my tempo and improved accuracy through contact. I'm not a huge fan of the white shaft though but after seeing you also have better consistency with the Evenflow (Even though slightly shorter distances) I feel more confident in pulling the trigger. Cheers.

I am also going through this process with the new Titleist drivers as well. I was amazed how poorly my existing driver was actually performing for me, the numbers were crazy bad for side and backspin. I found this vid very interesting Peter, good luck with the new metal! Worth noting that I am also exploring the possibility of shortening the shaft a bit, as I was getting better strikes. I only play off 9 handicap though and am quite short, so clearly that wouldn't be an issue for everyone.

Have been playing a Titleist 915 D2 for which I was fitted or optimized. Tested and compared it to the TS2 and TS3 last week for the first time. Preferred the TS3 but found that both were a definite improvement over the 915 both in distance and dispersion. Going back today for a fitting. For me the most interesting findings in your review had to do with the importance of the shaft and setup fitting. Thanks for your candor. Many reviewers seem reluctant to step on the toes of a manufacturer.

Another great/Finch take on a club review-ish video. I like this as it shows it's more than taking two clubs (stock) and deciding which one you want. The fact that you can take the same club and try numerous shafts will have a much greater benefit for an individuals game! Side note I channeled my inner Finch (raising club before takeaway) this weekend and shot my lowest score ever and won my Club Championship by 6!! First time winning anything of this magnitude! I will keep learning and improving as long as you keep inspiring!! 😎

Great video on a very critical part of golf, "the fitting". Having gone through it several times myself, I came away with the basically the same conclusions. Sure, it's usually about distance that most people try the latest drivers, while also retaining some accuracy. As you also did, finding the correct shaft is the defining part of the equation in achieving both. Well done Rick..

I think the evenflow gave the best results. You picked up 10 yards with a very tight dispersion...take that over the tensei any day. Also you have tour level speeds and there are very few if any tour players using 55g graphite. Most are 60 plus and many are in the 70-80g range

was thinking the same thing. I was fitted for the TS3 but never even tried the Tensei. If I did I probably would have been too tempted by averaging over 300 total LOL. I ended up with the Speeder 757 Tour Spec which is 78gm and very low torque. Averaging about 280 carry now, but MUCH straighter than my previous Epic.

Pete, just a suggestion. Why don’t you get both? When you play a tight course, where accuracy is a must use the evenflow. When the course is more open use the tensei shaft.

Another great video Pete! In my opinion, I say you should go for the TS3 with the Tensei shaft. Take the distance every time. Distance off the tee determines ability to score. Shorter approaches mean tighter shot dispersion which means shorter putts. Your swing is so technically beautiful that your dispersion will continue to get better the more you practice with this club. Keep up the great work!

I'd say trust your instincts they will usually be the ones in harmony with your swing the most. I've played with a chap who could never make the fairway or seemingly so with his ping driver but he was never far off and with the extra distance from the tee he was able to easily give himself birdie chances. Just got to go for what's best for progress.

Thanks for the review and you thoughts on both clubs. I had my TS fitting last week. Like you I quickly dismissed the TS2 for same reasons, feel and direction (one far right, one far left, etc) - just didn’t fancy it. The TS3 is what I am more used to playing the D3 model. I am glad they made the TS3 a 460 head which is not very noticable in comparison to my old gamer. Tried the standard shafts and at the end the Tensei Blue came on top. Looking forward to putting it in my bag once its arrives. Overall not massive gains in terms of distance for me at this time but very excited with the setup (went one degree up) and shaft

Nice. If you haven't yet, definitely check out the 818H2. It's unlike any hybrid I've played before. Looks gorgeous behind the ball, it's easy to keep in the fairway off the tee, and it produces less spin and lower launch than other hybrids I've tried so it goes for miles.

Yes excited to try the new Titleist driver as they do seem longer when dialled in. In your case surely accuracy is important with decent or good distance not just distance! Par 4s shouldn’t be a issue in getting on the greens in 2 unless it’s blowing a gale so it’s down to par 5s in two average par five around 540 yards so a good accurate drive good distance 300 yards give or take you’ve got the power to reach comfortably so why go for a extra 20 yards off line? Come on pete you’ve played long enough to know by now distance isn’t always the winner. Good in-depth video very enjoyable.

The shaft is 45.50 inches stock. Did you change shaft length? TS D-2 looks like 915 D-3. The static head weights have to be changed because of shaft length. I have seen all the tests. The summary is TS is 1-2 degree higher launch. About 300-500 less spin & about 5-10 yards over 917 D2. The 917 was shorter when tested again other drivers. The cost of these drivers are close to PXG price point when you order a good shaft. Msrp- $550 base, $240 for shaft upgrade on average.Tensi pro shaft $ 300-$340 more.

I think fitting is much more the question and focus on the right shaft and Grip. So you need a set of diff types. Aldila RIP Alpha and Matrix Ozik RedTie are a must. Even the use of 52g Grip and a Tour25. And then compare each shaft with each head (TS2, TS3, M1, F8+, GBB) and each grip .. lot of work for you .. if I would be your Fitter.

I'd always take accuracy over distance. Only about 15 yards in it which is nothing really. Would you prefer to be 15 yards further up the fairway but in the rough with who knows what sort of lie? or, 15 yards back but you've kept it on the short stuff, and a nice clean lie?
@daleykun
@daleykun 6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'd happily take 15 yards off every single one of my shots if I knew I'd keep it in the short stuff/on the green every time.

Matt Evans completely agree. As a fairly high handicapper, I’d much rather sacrifice distance if it means landing on a fairway. Landing in the rough, for me, can completely screw a hole
@elsgitsels8202
@elsgitsels8202 6 жыл бұрын
Matt Evans that’s kind of a wrong way to think, he is not going to miss every fairway with the tensei shaft and he is not going to hit every single fairway with the Mizuno. He needs to think in the way that he is maybe going to miss 2 more fairways with the titleist but is going to be 20 yards further down every time, this could mean having the chance to go for a par five in two instead of laying up and gaining .3 of a stroke. When you watch all the best guys on tour they all bomb it. As long as his worst shot with the ts3 is rough and not trees/ob I think he should go with the new titleist driver

Great video Pete, I saw Ricks review on them and after seeing your fitting I'm thinking of having a closer look and possibly a fitting when they come out here, with regard to your choice, take it out and play a few rounds on different courses that you've played before with your old driver and see how it compares in a "real" golf situation, after all that's where you want it to perform, there's nothing like the golf course to really test how a driver performs, and yes there's nothing like the feeling of hitting a driver long, especially when you know that you can trust it to hit the target, good luck and great golfing whatever your choice is

I’m looking for a new driver. I have played all Titleist for 16 years and am/was looking to move away from them completely. I feel like as a company they don’t care about any customers that aren’t pros. That being said, when you are not a long ball hitter and hear people saying that have gained 10-20 yards you perk up. I have hit these both and I feel two things. 1. I don’t love the shaft options. I have played the blue diamana and love it, nothing they have translate. I also don’t want to buy it without trying it first 2. I feel like they should have had 3 options. I feel like they are missing something. I am waiting until March for a new driver. I will see what else new comes out.

Pete, did you get fit for the Mizuno? If no, you might want to get fit for it as well. Maybe you can get more out of it. Otherwise, the yardage gain is hard to pass up in the TS3. Course management + longer drives = Quest for the Open

Good vid Peter Finch . I reckon if you had it in you bag and it is as forgiving as you say, it won't be be long before you really dial the TS3 in and step up your game like you really want. Imagine taking big lumps out of them big par 5's and who want's safe and comfortable.

1. Cant wait to receive my pair of adicross 2.0 that you wore during the fitting and which I won on instagram from your instagram give away. 2. The fitter was probably just happy it was “down goes Finch” instead of “down goes Frazier”

Tip that tensei an extra 1/4" and you'll accomplish 2 things more than likely...more center strikes, a little more stoutness that should lessen dispersion.

You should have tried a lower torque tensei blue as that can matter as well. Or tried another shaft outside their offering...

I say go back and hit them on another day when you are not wearing coffee as a cologne and see if the results repeat. I'm excited to try a Titleist driver, especially something that is not multi-material after seeing the Epic and Rogue drivers splitting at the carbon crown/frame seams.

You should try a Tensei Pro Blue instead of the stock Tensei Blue. The Pro Blue has the boron tip which is much more stable. I know they are saying these are real deal shafts, but the two truly don’t compare. Plus, a 55 gram shaft is far too lite for someone of your swing speed.

Hey Pete. I was wondering about the stability of the shoes you’re wearing. I have some trainers like that and not good for hitting because of stability. I’d imagine the golf shoe is better. Thoughts?

I'd stay with the mizuno for the simple fact that a fairway is always better then the rough but if I had to choose a titleist i'd go ts2 with the tensi shaft not a huge fan of to much adjustability

TS 3 for you and Rick but accuracy first, 5-10 yards not an issue if your hitting it 300 yards anyway (us mere mortals struggle for 250+ were its all about distance) Have TM M2 Diver at the moment but seriously looking at Titleist for the first time as a real option for a new driver

I'd personally test out say the callaway or taylormade drivers to get a better comparison. While I did like the titleist drivers in the past, I personally wouldn't limit myself when you have the opportunity to make the best decision - especially with winter coming where you could work on generating more power. I knew when I got the M3 with the right shaft combo it gave me loads of confidence and I love the look and feel of it too which is a big part of golf for me.

I really like the look of both would really have to have a go to be sure. 278 carry "I'm not a long hitter", your having a giraffe Pete, honestly. I would go with more accuracy over the extra distance, as when you start to find the middle of the club they will go that little bit better also.

TS3 for sure. No reason to go with a less adjustable unless it works. I don't think you'll like less control though. A few yards longer maybe but the first time you go OB, you'll regret it.

Very interesting stuff Peter. Wish I could one day get Titleist clubs too.. but maybe one day. Do you think Titleist is now on the same line on drivers as ping, Taylor made and others now with these? If I understood you correctly you told Titleist have lost the driver market but do you think T2/T3 brought Titleist back? What should skill level in your opinion T2/T3 fit? Is it Higher player Drive as well or just Tour/Low -Handicap? :) Great video Peter!! go #TeamFinch

Wow wow. Seems Titleist have really found a winning combination in the TS series. Some very impressive gains by the end of your fitting session! Like you said, you’ll have to do a deeper dive into the numbers & make the call based on an evaluation of your game...make the sensible/prudent decision... But yeah, in general, long-bomb tensei setup all day for me. 😂👍🏻 Dang, probably 40+ drivers have been released since I got my original M1, and for the first time since then, I’m really interested in possibly buying a new one. Rick’s review planted the seed, the videos by Liam at GolfVlogsUK definitely got the idea of a new driver to take root, and now your video has me convinced...Xmas gift to myself, new driver fitting & possibly a shiny new toy! Gotta say, pretty brilliant job by Titleist marketing-wise to get so many KZbinrs set up with on-camera custom fitting sessions & not just demo clubs. Whether it’s a pro like you or a club golfer like Liam & eBay Pete, the custom fit TS drivers are killing it. Really exciting!

Your iron game from what I've seen on your course vlogs is great enough to sacrifice a little bit of accuracy issues for an extra 30 yards off the tee. I feel you should go ts3 with the weight at the toe within a week you'll be banging that down the dead center of the fairway

The Tensei may not be as inaccurate as you think. Any club over a longer distance will have that issue. Because 1 degree continues to expand the further it goes. I say go for the length especially with 20+yd gains. Hitting a shorther club will result in more birdie opportunities.
