Loved wearing this and sad that I sold mine. I went back to repurchase and forgot how damn expensive it was. This would be great at 349. But that’s where it would shine. Let’s see if they come out with something else.

Hi, Peter. I bought one of these recently on your review's endorsement! I am pleased to say that: 1) The watch is just as great as you say! 2) 2 of your main critiques (loose bezel and difficult clasp) seem to have been fixed entirely. I'd say it's pretty likely ROIH took your review into very close consideration. I'll be taking my Shek to the Caribbean next week to really put it through its paces. Congrats on all your success! You and TGV are my favorite WatchTubers (a collab some day????)

I personally adore skindivers , they almost feel like a combination between a diver and a field watch. My main complaint with most (real) divers is that they are too thick , big and chunky. Most also dont fit under cuffs without stretching them out.

one thing I noticed was the polished section when viewed in profile, I would have that brushed , it detracts from the other surfaces , crown and date window need to be refinished and removed, in that order lol

Cool watch. Reliable cost effective movement. Ti takes it to the next level because of weight savings as comfort is king as you say. It should do well at that price point. I like its overall size and diameter. A distinctive reimagined piece.

I like that case it came in. It really has that 60's look, cool. I can see why you would want to keep it on the bracelet, I would too. That dial, It looks like asphalt to me. That introductory price of $329 is very good as well. Good video Pete!

G'day Pete! What a nice little watch! I really like skin divers and this is no exception. Fully agree about the date window. I'm not a huge fan of the gold plated crown. For one it looks a little like a foreign matter and I believe being a part that needed to be handed to interact with the movement the coating might eventually wear off. Excellent review, I enjoyed the footage!
@PeterKotsa3 жыл бұрын
The gold plated crown and seconds hand was neither here nor there for me, however that said, I matched the watch up with a tan leather strap and I see how it works really well. But you're right in time these thing wear off (not and expensive watch to really be concerned about it though) 😊 Cheers Alex

Luv your exploration of this watch & fixes required. I like the crown being different as long as it relates back into the design, not looking as a spare part add-on. I’m a fan of titanium, and this may get my support / purchase if the dial is dateless or 3,6,9. Merry Christmas Peter!
@wallytangofoxtrot47213 жыл бұрын
A titanium beaut. Love the textured dial face. The only thing I’d change (other than the logo…sorry…not enough brand design is invested here in most micro brands…less is more) would be the bezel making it ceramic Pepsi perhaps. Great foundation for future consideration.

Similar comment from me as others. I find the design very appealing. I love the NH35 and $329 Super Early Price. 50mm L2L is a no-go for my 17cm wrist. Makes me a bit sad 😉

@@PeterKotsa I agree, Peter. I am quite a fan of the Seiko 62MAS, and this bears a passing resemblance to that case. Probably why I like this Shek-o Matic so much. Whoa! That’s frickin’ gorgeous. Absolutely perfect size for my wrist as well! Very tempted, I must say... I don’t own a Ti watch. Shame about that date though. I’m with you Pete. Despite generally liking a bit of asymmetry, I really don’t like it when a watch has that 6, 9, 12 & date layout. That's a dislike, not necessarily a deal breaker. But do I really wanna sell my beloved Glycine Combat Sub?, 'cause I really don't need another daily diver... Hmm... Decisions!

I'd buy this watch for the looks and the bracelet alone! It's so nice! With or without a date is not that important for me, first thing I'd change is the centre second hand for a white or silver one and the crown for a unilook titanium one. Peter, where can I get on?? The kickstarter just tells me: coming soon. No interface or ealybird support option at all :(

Looks really nice, bezel is a copy of the iconic Zodiac SeaWolf which was one of the worlds first divers. Even the hour markers at 12,6 & 9 are a nod to the zodiac too. Shame it has the NH35 just a bland movement and if they used the 9015 case could be thinner making it more wearable.

I call this kind of watches "flying saucer with wings"! Now in titanium, not bad at all. Nice gilt crown and seconds hand, the whole design and hands look nice, but got to say i hate the "sandpaper" dial. On the cordura strap is good too, still the bracelet looks weird, somehow. Nice to see you next to the sea mate!!! Did you swim? Hope so... Thanks for the presentation, be well mate.

Nice watch , but could have been great. Better bezel, better lume , micro adjust on the fly. Date/No date option. Bronze bezel with bronze crown, 39mm and say 41mm sizes. Nice leather pouch, instead of cheap box. Apply the changes and charge no more than $600 and i think it could do well. For a microbrand to do well they need to offer the full Monty, that the big brands won't. I don't want a free strap, give me better lume instead !!! Get the watch head and the bracelet right, and some useful packaging and you can't go wrong. Great vid as always Peter.

I like it a lot. Titanium watches seem to have a muted sound to their bezel action. My Breitling Aerospace has a pretty quiet bezel too. Lots of really nice details. I like the asymmetric date window and the gold accents. It's not just a sub clone, but a well thought out watch with classic dimensions.

In my opinion we are seeing far too many low-cost watches versions of classic designs being offered nowadays. China brands are offering them in the region 75-200 us$. Microbrands usually are charging 295-395 us$. Original Seiko re-issue demand a price starting from 1.000 us for most of the times. I am missing the differentiation amongst all those watches. Thickness is another problem for me, the NH35 movements of course dictates the dimensions (here again we see 12 in a dozen) but what is the meaning of this large offerings in times of recycling and sustainability ?
@kevingilhooley20643 жыл бұрын
You have a very valid point but let's face up to reality...most of the micro brands are Chinese made to order, from a European /Australian /USA entrepreneur..,....,.in reality none of these Kickstarter brands would come to market if the Chinese were putting them out......they can copy,manufacture and produce all at a fraction of the cost of a western world watch maker.......it's so much easier than having to design something themselves , so when will the fad end? .....as soon as the Chinese companies have to pay their employees a decent wage.
@cedarcanoe3 жыл бұрын
@@kevingilhooley2064 wages and taxes are a local thin in my opinion. No nation can adapt to the rules of another part of the world in a short time (or even a lifetime). I don't see this as exploitation or even slavery from China, rather as the local rules by with the entire local economy is functioning. BTW, my point was rather that I have had enough of yet another homage of a popular model.
@PeterKotsa3 жыл бұрын
I think these homages will always continue to be designed and brought forward to the market. If you think about it, there is really nothing new under the sun, rare these days to find new and unique pieces, people do not seem, to flock to them, only what they know. As for recycling sustainability, it will take years to achieve world goals. Here they are saying 2030.

It’s a colonial English translation of Cantonese of 石澳 a beautiful beach on the southern end of the Hong Kong island. 石 =Shek means rock, and 澳=O means port. There’re other beautiful beaches in HK that would make a different name. But that beach may have a special meaning from the creator of the watch
