I own both of these... If you're going to do serious off-roading I would say get the Cherokee its literally at least 3 times the wheel torque in low range. It is WAY more power, even if you compare the 2.4 compass Trailhawk to the 2.4 Cherokee Trailhawk, the Cherokee (because of the transfer case) will LITERALLY pull 3x as hard when off roading. Its no contest.. If you're not going to... Then go ahead and get the compass... The main difference is that if you weren't getting the newer 2.0 turbo compass... That's not going to be near as fast as the 2.0 turbo Cherokee or the V6 Cherokee... That's the main difference... I will say that I like the way my Cherokee drives a whole lot better than the compass... So if you like to be able to go around corners pretty fast and for it to drive more like a car and be not tippy at all.... The Cherokee Trailhawk isn't a bit tippy It drives like a car even more so than the compass and it feels more grounded. Even with a 2-in lift on my Cherokee it's still out handles the compass in stock form. And I'm talking about the Cherokee Trailhawk and the compass trailhawk I own both.

I'm looking to purchase a 2019 Cherokee trailhawk but a little concerned about the V6,... I hear a terrible things about it, automatically shuts down, unexpectedly shuts down, bad spark plugs and coil packs, overheating problems? Can you share your thoughts?

Excellent video. I would add that to a select group of buyers (RVers), a significant difference between the Cherokee and the Compass is that the Cherokee can be flat-towed while the Compass cannot. Like the Wrangler, the Cherokee is a favorite of motor home owners. And I'd bet the Neutral button (N) next to the terrain selector is probably used more for enabling flat-towing than it is for recovering when stuck. Also, the three steering buttons with no function in your video are for Adaptive Cruise Control which is available in both the Cherokee and Compass, but apparently not installed in the models shown here.

One thing you did not mention is that both vehicles come with skid plates, which is very nice to have if you plan on venturing off the beaten path. Very nice and comprehensive reivew.

I just got the 2022 compass. Wanted the Cherokee but the 2022 model has full LCD gauge cluster display the interior got an update making it look way better than older models. I do have the elite package which adds the full panoramic roof and heated cooled seats even rear passenger gets heated seats premium audio etc. it was much harder to fine elite versions of the Cherokee and the interior didn’t get updated. One thing I don’t like about the compass is the fuel economy doesn’t impress me for a 2022 model, and the fuel tank is small at only 13.5 gals. Limiting its range wish it was closer to 15-18gals. Other than that it’s a perfect commuter with the occasional adventure trips.

Loved the video. I would have added the seats folded down just to get a visual of the room with the back seats down. Say if you were going to sleep in the back.

That's a big difference I think (!). In the Cherokee the rear seats fold down flat. (I own one.) Not so in the Compass I believe, at least from what I've seen in another video which was showing the cargo volume details of the Compass.

I have the Cherokee Trailhawk with a 3.2. You can get both Compass and Cherokee with optional 2.0 turbo. Cherokees dialed up more on power. 200hp 221lb-ft in Compass. 270hp 295lb-ft in Cherokee.
@grizzzlyadamz Жыл бұрын
That 3.2 spicy though. Running K&N cai with flow master cat-back exhaust tuned on 93 octane. Eats my Camry alive on the streets. 101,000 in 4 years with no issues. And it’s off-road at least once a week. I love it.

Forgot to mention the Compass comes with an italian made CVT transmission whereas the Cherokee comes with a US made 9-speed gearbox transmission. The CVTs are known to shit the bed often and for the price of the compass I'd spend the extra money to go straight to a cherokee or get the cheaper renegade which comes with most of the same features and is much cheaper than the compass.
@PeterBaumgart1a6 ай бұрын
The "US made 9-speed gearbox transmission" is made by ZF in Germany ("Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen") 😊

In the 2023 compass they changed the transmission to an 8 speed automatic and 2.0 turbo motor

Good overall video but disappointing that you didn't even pop the hood and go over the engines, I heard that the 2.0 turbo is more robust than the 3.4 V6 which is plagued with problems. Can someone share their experiences?

I would take my Cherokee Trailhawk over any other non-wrangler model Jeep. Rear locker is the reason. Also, with my 2" lift I have more clearance than a Grand without the stiffness caused by air suspension at max setting.

I noticed a sport button in the cherokee that the compass didn't have. You didn't cover it's function. I can only assume it for a high 4 x 4 mode? If so, what's the max speed it can be driven in the sport mode? 55 mph? I believe that's what the renegade is capable of, I remember right.
