I have always loved this show, especially the seasons with Kate, and when tomboy Betty Jo had long hair and was in high school. I watched this show new, from 1964 onward. Betty Jo was my fave when I was a child. I always liked the Shady Rest hotel. The kids on the show rode the train to school. Cool!! The Christmas episodes were exceptional.

That’s why I don’t watch shows from Hollywood anymore, I can’t find anything worth watching, I will watch classic shows like this or more often than not an Asian drama usually Korean sometimes Chinese or Japanese
This show was Superb !! --Paul Henning created three wonderful shows in the 60's. This one, and Green Acres and the very classic, Beverly Hillbillies. ...RIP Mr Henning, thank you for the million laughs. Never saw Kate lose her temper til this episode,chasing that spoiled old fart with the broom. Bea Benederet (RIP) was just fantastic in this role. Loved Edgar Buchanan (RIP) As Uncle Joe, especially in this episode kissing up to the enemy LOL ! And of course the lovely ladies, favorite has always been Betty Jo (Linda Kaye Henning) I want to ride the Hooterville Cannonball and stay at the Shady Rest enjoying the incredible homemade meals and warm hospitality.... What a dream ! Thank you for uploading.

I like this episode just as I do so many others. It would have been nice if after using a broom on Mr. Waterhouse Kate would also use it on Uncle Joe. With all of Joe's schemes & the troubles he causes a couple of good swats with the broom would serve him right. The girls are great but I feel it is Bea/Kate that makes the show. The other later seasons are good but not the same without Bea/Kate. Thanks for bringing back good, clean, wholesome TV shows the way TV should be.

Once I was watching a commercial and they showed a movie clip he was in it back then I thought he had died many years ago, but as I saw him in the movie clip I can't recall the name of the movie he was in but this was in the early 2000s but as I saw him in it I said thats impossible, at that time , so I learned he was still alive when I saw him on The TV Land Awards several years later

Ha,, ha, (Lol) when we were kids, innocence. Later, i got to thinking as i got older, this "Shady Rest" was a "whorehouse" and Kate lured all the men in the door including mr Bedlow. Mean crooked "squater" as "This Propery is Condemned" with Natalie Wood and Robert Redford! crazy, cranky old man Bedlow. he needs nooky, begin with Kate! (Lol)
@Thomas-yr9ln2 жыл бұрын
The story line was written around the mean old man trying to shut down the train for good till Steve and her daughter getting married. I used to hate the one with the mean old man but in my opinion now the earlier shows were better. They were ten times better than today's shows its just the early one's were top notch.

Charlie told Kate his pride is at stake & that he had the cannonball purring like a kitten. Kate's response "Well you have got to get her spitting like a wild cat or we'll all be eating like pigeons." Cannonball is a lot like Kate, purrs like a kitten until someone like Bedloe comes against all she loves, her family, the Shady Rest, friends & the cannonball, then Kate's a spitting like a wild cat to protect them.

In the scene where Mr. Bedloe said he took a 25 mile hike from Hooterville, in my mind I said, 25 mile hike, what happened, the hand car wasn't there?

I loved the scene when Kate took the meal to Mr. Waterhouse. Waterhouse: "I wouldn't eat your cooking even if I was starving." Kate: "Now you eat everything on that plate right down to the last morsel or so help me I'll turn you over my knee & spank the living daylight out of you. And don't think I can't do it." Anybody who knows Kate, knows she can do it. Anyone in their right mind had better not mess with Kate. I still say as in my comment 2 months ago, Kate after using the broom on Mr. Waterhouse should have also took a couple of swats at Uncle Joe's backside for all the trouble he causes her.

I agree Lynn. After Bea passed, the show became unwatchable. Carson was lazy and shiftless in the most annoying way. His harebrained schemes made some of Ralph Kramden's endearing. Shows the great acting skill of Bea Benaderet to create such a lovely character as Kate Bradley, but be so annoying & needy as Pearl Bodine
