Superb, its worth more than that in scrap alone. Cut the cat out before you go to scrap it as it could well be worth £80 if you give it to them seperatley, thats before scrapping the rest of it. Although having said that there are 206s out there changing hands for this sort of value that have years of driving left in them good wee cars if the axle is ok.

@@peugeotCitroen2CV It has only does 120000K so theres alot of life left in it. I' bee changing the cambelt and some other wear and tear items. all in will be less than £200. As long as the rust is kept at bay it probably has 10 years left in it and changing the axle bearings is just a little fiddly but also a learning experience.

Would changing the brake cylinder at the same time be more beneficial as these are prone to leaks...?

Only if it is leaking, they are fairly cheap to replace but i would not change a wheel cylinder unless it needed it.

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Thanks for the response. I see it was some time ago since you did this. I don't expect you to remember what the area around the big nut was. But what I'm trying to work out, is there enough space to get a standard impact socket around the nut? Or, do you think I would be better getting a thin wall impact socket? I' just about to order the socket!

@@martinramsey114 Hi there, there should be plenty of room around it for a standard impact socket. I have a set of impact sockets but they are no name branded ones, seldom an issue with access.

Thanksa mate, just thought I’d take a peek as I’d almost completed the job of my metal to metal shoes, and BINGO I found the circlip was missing, because the bearing dropped out ! Do you think this could have aided the brake linings to brake up in the way they did ? Cheers mate Roy

Hi there, great video! Question trying to replace the shoes on my 2002 206 - one of the drums came off ok, but the other one is stuck ... it rotates fine, and I can rattle it back and forwards a few mm, but doesn't want to come off. What would you recommend to get it off? Thanks
@peugeotCitroen2CV
@peugeotCitroen2CV 5 жыл бұрын
Hi there The adjuster wheel inside that adjusts the two brake shoes it needs to be fully slackened and obviously double check the handbrake lever is fully down. There may be a bit of a lip inside the drum and doing this will help get the drum over the shoes.

@MrGerter1 5 жыл бұрын
@@peugeotCitroen2CV Wow such a fast reply! I did move the adjuster, wasn't sure if I was tightning or loosening it, but watching the end of your video I think I now know what way it goes. Will give it another go, thanks again!

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Hi again, I managed to get the adjuster pretty close to the end, but didn't seem to make any difference to the drum. I'm thinking about using a drum puller, but worried it might snap the shoe retention pins. Have you had any experience using a puller? I wouldn't worry if I could find the pins easy enough, but doesn't seem to be any in my country ...
@peugeotCitroen2CV
@peugeotCitroen2CV 5 жыл бұрын
@@MrGerter1 Hi, ive used a large bearing puller on a drum in the past. It can indeed damage the shoe retention pins or the shoes however those are the parts that are due replacement? Google Peugeot 206 brake drum hardware for a replacement pin and spring kit. However usually the drum will wiggle off, if you get a good pair of thick gloves on to protect your fingers from nipping rock the drum about a bit and pull with a decent amount of force it should get past the ridge thats holding it in place.
@MrGerter1
@MrGerter1 5 жыл бұрын
@@peugeotCitroen2CV Hey mate, thanks again for your replies. Last night I finally got it off with a puller! Was careful to not break anything and it came off cleanly. Putting the new shoes back on was a nightmare though! Wish I did have a spring kit cause they were some solid springs to put back on, a lot more movement in your springs in the video. Took a lot of elbow grease to get them suckers back on. Reason I couldn't get a kit was a needed this thing running ASAP as it's my only vehicle, otherwise wouldn't have minded waiting for shipping :)

Hi, any idea how hard it'd be to replace the brake hose pipe on the rear wheel, which is also uses drum brakes? Like what type of precautions must I make to ensure nothing goes wrong etc. Thanks.
@peugeotCitroen2CV
@peugeotCitroen2CV 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, in general, they are not too hard to do with the right tools Is the affected hose on your car the rubber flexible part or the steel/copper brake line? In either case, the old damaged section is unbolted and the new one bolted back into place, then the brakes will need to be bled. To bleed the brakes its possible to use the two-person technique (plenty of videos on youtube on bleeding brakes), I personally have a brake bleeder that pressurises the brake hydraulic circuit and makes it easier to bleed the brakes. If you have a damaged or corroded steel/copper pipe you will need to make up a new section. I have not made a video on this as any time I've needed to do it its been in too much of a rush to do a video. Nonetheless, there are plenty of videos on how to make up brake lines, the required flare tools can be bought from a motor factors shop for about £20-30. Precautions i can give is to avoid getting brake fluid on bodywork as it can damage paint and lead to rust, if any gets spilt clean it off with brake parts cleaner.

@@peugeotCitroen2CV Cheers for the response, it's the actual pipe itself, just did some YTing and found one guy making his own brake pipe line, which I don't have the tool for xD I'll see if I can think of anything, thanks.

@peugeotCitroen2CV
@peugeotCitroen2CV 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry i did not take a note of it, something i make sure to do in any more recent videos as it does tend to get asked especially as after 30mm most socket sets stop. I had a 40mm and 36mm socket at the time this video was made. There is always the owners club where the socket size may be a more recent memory in someones mind.
