Thank you - this video is superb! It makes me dare to dream that I could do my own timing belt, but anxious about failing mid-process. I recently struggled to work out how to get the air filter housing out - not something to feature in the service manual!

Nice explaination. The dealer quoted me £1200 for this job, saying its £700 of labour. I am quite surprised. How long does it normally take you?

Thank you for the awesome video, can you make a quick video on how to fix Peugeot 508 2012 Boot button "O"? Boot opens from button inside and from key but not when "O" in press from the boot/trunk/rear.

Another A1 video and demo, I still believe in putting sealer on the pump, not much, but as I said when I did my passat timing belt kit the water pump leaked and had to go back and seal it😢 love the video👍

100% good explenation. Indeed wrong timing and to much sealer! I have to do my jag 2.2 diesel. The same procedures. The dealers ask me € 1250! Compleet insane. Maybe its a good idea to change the coolant complete instead off filling it up? What about the torck specs?

@@bodgitandleggitgarage Hey Leon! I was thinking lately about that floating crank pulley again. I want to make sure I've got this right because service manuals confuse me right now. 1. turn the crank sprocket clockwise fully, to help put on the belt 2. tension the tensioner as the manual says (e.g. for psa petrol engine from 2000's - over the MAX notch). 3. tighten the crank bolt enough to turn over the engine using the socket on it (by this, you lock the sprocket, so it wont adjust itself to the middle - i don't get this part) 4. turn the engine over at least 4 times 5. check the timing 6. retension the tentioner properly 7. loosen the crank bolt 8. torque the crank bolt I'm not entirely sure, the sprocket will center itself at step #7. Can you comment od this? What was your proces after puting the belt on? Cheers!

Nice work pal, I have a Peugeot 508 1.6 HDI Blue, Oddly like that one no need to press clutch or brake to start it. Mind you on the 8 valve 1.6 a lot more room to do a cambelt and keep the skin on your knuckles

Hi, what is the recommended interval for changing these timing belts? Mine is 2014 2.0 Blue Hdi with 25000 miles on it. Great vis as always!
@bodgitandleggitgarage Жыл бұрын
Personally I will not leave a timing belt more than 80000 miles or every 4 years
@bodgitandleggitgarage Жыл бұрын
If your belt has done that much mileage I would contact contact Guinness book of records you will definitely get in lol
@jonsayce7756 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps you misread the mileage, it is only twenty five thousand miles not two hundred and fifty thousand 😂

Really enjoyed the video, and how you pronounce Peugeot 😂 , my question is really how much would this job likely cost me in your opinion, belt , water pump and tensioners etc, my local garage is estimating around 500 ish for the job which i found reasonable, just wanted a second opinion
@pyromaniac354 Жыл бұрын
is that in pounds?around 5 hours to do the job plus parts

@@pyromaniac354 yes that's in GBP sorry 😂
@pyromaniac354 Жыл бұрын
@@chriswhite1644 no problem 🤣. I'm in NZ so is $500 labour ($100 per hr) parts around 400 too so with exchange rate sounds about right Parts should be cheaper over your ways tho as it's a European car. We have heaps of Japanese cars so parts are dirt cheap over here for those

I absolutely hate Peugeot/Citroën cars, needlessly complicated and awkward to work on, a lot of independent mechanics wouldn't even touch a Citroën because of how fucked up they are
