Car comes in for service which is worse lol looking for the invisible locking wheel nut tool or get stuck in and remove them all . Often the latter takes less time . good video Dave.

The later model Ct/Pu lock nuts have a flat centre app. 12-15mm dia with four pin positions deeper set around the edge. The centre can break out of the bolt as it is splined into the main body. Leaving about 10/11mm splined 5mm deep hole. The actual lock tool can be either 17or19 domed shaped. You've made me wonder if a spline key socket would fit as i can't see why the flat centre can break away, I just thought it was to centre purchase point the tool? Now see what you've started!! 😜 Great wee channel. Btw spotted the camo bmw the other day, 😎

That’s gas now, I was literally doing this exact job to my dads Peugeot ‘10 308 just before supper as his locking stud is on the missing list after it got tyres fitted the last time !

Great video Dave , the genuine 4 pin type are a proper pain in the arse , once had a 306 come in with no removal tool only just bought it , same as you customer had no idea it was missing , told him approx 50 quid as may have to drill centres out and use an easy out , put car on ramp , went to toolbox , had a root through the extra locking wheel tools we all have , and they presto proper luck , one was a perfect fit , all 4 came undone , 4 x , 2nd hand replacement bolts , 20 quid job done , happy guy

Nice little tool that. What are peoples thoughts on locking wheel nuts? I have just had a set of EVO 8 Enkei wheels powder coated but I havent fitted them with any lock nuts, I have always thought if someone wants to steal them they probably have the tools to do it!

Personally i think a locking wheel nut and an impact gun should stay well away from each other.....especially tightening.....but well done good job

Those are easy. It's the ones with the pins that are an absolute nightmare, and I'm guessing that's what the tyre garages thought were fitted so hence why they refused to do them.

I think you got lucky there. That looks like it's probably an aftermarket one that's been used to replace the Peugeot ones previously. I'm trying to solve my own situation, so been doing a bit of searching about it all. There's a couple of really nasty types they do. The one I have (Peugeot 206 cc) ; has what looks like a rounded off top, with the flat washer type design, under the head, with some unique arch shaped notches, cut out of the outer edge of that washer. The second type (which I think is used on newer/other models), has what looks like 3 prongs poking up from the middle. Both have what looks like a rounded centre head, but this is a bluff. If you use a reverse thread or gripper of some kind to grab that centre round head, it will shear off, as it's only holding onto the bolt through a weak/brittle connecting stalk.

Wish mine were that easy, couldn’t get any kind of socket on then nothing to grab onto had to drill them and use an extractor tool

Locking wheel nuts should be outlawed! There is a two piece Peugeot one I remember which can be a nightmare to remove, i'd guess that's what your tyre guy is thinking of.
