@peugeotCitroen2CV2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Yes i would say you have a loose connection somewhere especially if its occasionally working over bumps. You will need to inspect the various connectors, jiggle them and see what ones restore the operation. Sometimes the connectors can be taken apart and the contacts pinched a very small amount with pliers to tighten them.

@peugeotCitroen2CV4 жыл бұрын
It can be the resistor, or the plug that goes into it check it for burning or corrosion. Also check the motor to ensure the wires and plug that go into it are in good condition.

Same problem here (2015 model). Often off at startup, then comes on after a mile or so, often when turning tight bend so guessing loose connector. Plug to fan (from module) is hinged on pin at bottom, so just need to open top clip, hinge down then slide out. cant get further as havn't worked out how to get air filter housing out - cant't figure how to undo wiiring connector, or the hold down (looks like 4 rubber nuts).

Hi mate, excellent video!! I have this exact problem, only blowing on number 4, but I also have no lights illuminating the blower controls, is this likely to be solved by replacing the resistor?

I think that the actual illumination of the heater control dials is dealt with by a bulb behind them. Not too sure how the panel is removed to change the bulb but that would be what i would recommend investigating further.

Thanks for a good video, easy to follow. But a am still having the problem, no setting works, any ideas on what else it could be ?
@peugeotCitroen2CV5 жыл бұрын
No setting works even after replacing the resistor? First thing would be to determine if the motor is working, get two wires from the battery and supply 12v directly to the motor to see if it works. If it does not then you need a motor, if it does not work back through the system. It may still be a bad resistor unit, did the old one work at all, also check the fuses.

Hi, My blower works on all settings 1-4 but will not change to the windscreen from blowing in my face... Any ideas?

Hi there, The air direction control would be a different thing, its a mechanical connection from the knob to the flap. Ill be honest im not entirely sure what way it is on these vans might be worth perusing the owners clubs, forums etc to see if its a common issue and what fixes are used. The cable might be damaged or the plastic on either the back of the knob or on the direction control flap might have snapped.

It would be worth inspecting the connectors for the resistor pack and the motor, as well as the components themselves to see if there is any obvious issues with them.

The fan on my 2013 primastar (same as vivaro/traffic) started failing occasionally then completely failed. Does not make a difference which setting. Reckon this is a faulty fan rather than the resistor?
@peugeotCitroen2CV5 жыл бұрын
If you can remove the fan and apply 12v directly to it with a power probe type device (or two wires) then you should be able to deterimine if it is the fan or the resistor

@peugeotCitroen2CV5 жыл бұрын
Your coolant system may need to be bled, the water pump may not be working properly, the heater matrix could be blocked or the valve that changes from cold to hot air is not functioning correctly. What is the engine temperature gague like, does it get up to temperature ok?

I kept getting heat even when the fan turned off and the heating set to coolest temperature. What could be to problem?
@peugeotCitroen2CV4 жыл бұрын
Possibly the valve or flap in the dash/heater box that changes from hot to cold air, or the cable that actuates it. I cant say i know a great deal about these Trafics or their badge engineered variants such as vivaros. However i would recommend having a look on facebook or the internet for an owners club, group that is for them. A quick glance i see facebook has 'renault trafic owners uk' join and ask on there. It may be a common enough problem or at least someone with a bit more knowledge specific to them might point you in the right direction.

Hi I did this and then my engine management light came on any suggestions?
@peugeotCitroen2CV4 жыл бұрын
Was anything in the engine bay disconnected or possibly disturbed during this process? It could be unrelated to the resistor being changed, that is also a possibility. As with any engine management light there are many reasons why it could come on, so i would recommend having the van connected to diagnostic equipment to read the fault code in order to find out what it suggests is the fault.

This has started to happen on my partners DS3, its not even 4 years old >:(
@peugeotCitroen2CV9 жыл бұрын
+darkwaterblue Ah it can happen at any age, if the car is out of warranty then just price around for a new resistor should still be a fairly easy fix. Is it a DS3 with manual heater controls, or digital climate controls? Had to change the reistor in the xsara, although admittedly it was over 10 years old at that point.
@darkwaterblue9 жыл бұрын
+peugeotCitroen2CV It has the bog standard old as the hills Peugeot/Citroen Climate (its awful tbh!). It still works at different settings unlike this Renault, just the lower settings do nothing and the max setting doesn't max the fan like it used to. Resistor isn't super cheap either its about £70! Guess I am just scared as it's the first thing that's gone on it, and you know its French ;) *touches wood*.
@peugeotCitroen2CV9 жыл бұрын
+darkwaterblue Ah the 3 rotary dials arrangement, i suppose if anything they are easy to work, sounds the same as the way the xsaras fan went though. The citroen dealer had a similar sort of price for a replacement resistor unit on the xsara, but i bought one off ebay for about £30 which worked fine. They changed the design for the DS3, it actually looks easier to install now than the solder in arrangement on the xsara: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C3-C4-C5-C6-DS3-CONTROL-MODULE-RESISTOR-FOR-HEATER-BLOWER-MOTOR-6441S7-/171835854069?fits=Model%3ADS3&hash=item2802370cf5:g:PUsAAOSwMmBVir5o Obviously double check its compatible with your car. If the car is out of its warranty just start fixing it yourself, french cars give niggling faults, but there are plenty of good owners clubs and forums out there with a wealth of information on how to keep them going.
