Peugot 504 Ambulance, renovation of the Solido model no. 23. A toy from 1970.

The Peugeot 504 ambulance model, produced by the French company Solido, appeared on the toy market in 1970. I came across this model at a flea market in Bytom. I decided to renovate it because I liked it very much at the time. The quality of the models made by the French company Solido put them on par with the best companies in the world. I restored this model in the classic way, adding an appropriately scale paramedic from the Matchbox King size models and a patient on a stretcher. Originally, this model was equipped only with a stretcher. Apart from the missing parts, which I made myself, as usual, I enriched the model with the original box from 1970. Maestro. This custom deluxe restoration was filled with tasks. All the prep work was quite a task! But the extensive fabrication of the bumpers was a master's course of patience and persistance. Fiddling over and over to get them to fit the body line flush, and be shaped correctly was incredible. (I would have built a fire and turned this model into a car crash diorama.) I was getting frustrated just watching it!! My hat's off to you, Maestro. Truly. Beautiful job! The box was a particularly weird affair, both in construction and the odd color combinations for point of sale. Very "French"...yes? The entire production of the car, fabricating and fitting of parts, additional pieces from inventory, and bizarre box configuration all came together beautifully!! You ARE the Maestro!! Bonjour Paul Je l'ai aussi cette 504 ambulance de chez Solido. Je l'avais déjà refaite avec les nouvelles croix bleues.Mais,à l'époque il n'y avait pas encore les décalcomanies SAMU et les croix. Donc,obligé de les peindre mais pas terrible. Je vais donc,refaire la peinture de la carrosserie et poser les décalcomanies Bonne continuation Amicalement Bertrand du 27 (département de l'Eure. Another great restoration of model I don't think I've ever seen, but I think that's generally the case for many Solido models that in northern Europe they were outsold by (especially) Corgi and Dinky. Have to admit I'm not too crazy about the grille/headlights, but I really liked everything else, especially your bumpers. I noticed there was a drawing of something that looked like fire extinguishers or oxygen bottles on the box insert at the front of the car. Do you have any idea what that's supposed to mean?

I think the previous owner of the model hand painted the stripes. They look very amateurish. The police car version was marketed in a light blue ( as a French police car)
