Sounds absolutely fantastic. Love the bite and grind of the tone.

What a great sound the one this bass has! I have heard that this is the one Tim Commerford used when the Evil Empire was recorded.

Hi Paul, enjoyed the Detroit show immensely on 5/30 and talking with you about Rickenbacker basses at the meet and greet. So this is the monster that you spoke of, fantastic piece. Take care, hope to see you playing live again soon.

May I congratulate you for the masterful work you did on Evil Spirits? Well, I'll do it anyway. CONGRATULATIONS!!! The more I listen to the album, the more I love it. And your playing is such a threat I'm "singing" the bass lines on the street with the headphones on. So cool to see (and hear) you back on the circuit !! Thanks for keeping the passion up!!

WOWZERZ !!! Does anyone know if the ric 8's sound anything like this ?

Not quite...I've had the strings reversed on this so the octave string is under the main one...it give a thicker sound imo. And the toaster neck pickup is a Kent Armstrong.

Is that using some special kind of bridge or is it just a normal rickenbacker bridge that has 4 extra strings forced into it?

I just now stumbled on this video which I wish I saw years ago'. I've always wanted a potato head-stock Rick 8-string. Please instruct me where to order one. I had the Rickenbacker 1992' 8-string bass in azure-glow too', which wasn't like Chris Squire's or John Entwistles back in 1974' or so' - but we didn't have much choice. I was very disappointed with it. Please give me the magic phone number to someone who can build me one of these' too.
@paulgraybass4 жыл бұрын
It's a guy called Dale Corcoran that built it, but we've had neck problems so he's rebuilding it with the addition of 2 carbon fibre truss rods. In his words, "never again..." so it's completely a one-off.

@ravenstrange84665 жыл бұрын
Apparently if you play with a pick you put the high string before the thicker string, and if you use your finger you put the higher string after the thick string. So I've heard.

@trefwoordpunk22252 жыл бұрын
Funny, I can't play 12 string acoustic because it has the high string first and my pick always catches on the first string, but Rickenbacker guitars have the high string second and I can play them no problem, so I imagine the bass would easier to play with the high string second also. This bass sounds absolutely amazing though, no need for a guitarist with one of these!!!
