Dr kwon has changed my swing. His simple walking drill and kettle bell with rope has changed my game. I don't fear loosing my swing. The swing makes sense. I use to fear making changes to swing. Now it's so much simpler just like walking or moving. This year I spent so much time on putting and chipping because I was not consumed hitting buckets trying to find my swing. My putting is awesome and shaving strokes off the game. First time in ten years of playing and bouncing around 90. Now breaking 80 is possible. I look forward to next year.

Very encouraged by the part Dr Kwon is explaining the left leg standing up. I'd be v surprised if Jared doesnt already do this since he's got such a good swing. Figured it would be a lightbulb moment more for people like myself. Had chanced upon this mechanic when trying to swing faster with the rope and I found that i could only swoosh faster when my left leg stood up faster from a slightly more flexed position. Got so fast that I had trouble braking properly and reminded me of that Phil Mickelson nugget.

Brandon this video resonated with me so much. I must find out how to attend one of your and Dr Kwon schools. When he talks about moving the hands away from his body. I took some lessons and was trying to hit drivers with eyes closed. I could not hit the ball because I was pushing my hands away from my body. Still have issues with this. Thank you. And to those that have nasty comments. GO ELSEWHERE!

Love the feeling of throwing the club at the ball. I've been doing it for years. Some call it a downhinge, some call it a cast motion, some just refer to it as ulnar deviation back behind you in downswing. It increases ball speed tremendously and tends to sync things up for those of us who have quick rotary movements and hands get left behind.

Most golfers, myself included, will be in awe with flexibility available for Jared’s finish. Unfortunately, what I also see in his finish is a lot of wasted rotational momentum. What Dr Kwon has shown, from detailed scientific study of elite players, is that they can efficiently transfer the rotational momentum developed in the early downswing to the rotational momentum of the club-head. Physic’s dictates that in this momentum transfer the total rotational momentum (club head + body) must be conserved so that for the rotational momentum of the club-head to speed up coming into impact the rotational momentum of the body must slow down. During impact (with a driver) only about 30% of the club head momentum is absorbed by the ball so that most of the club head momentum (and the remaining rotational momentum of body) have to be absorbed by golfer’s body in the follow-through to bring the club-head and body to rest at the finish. This braking phase is the only function of the post impact follow-through part of the swing from a dynamics perspective. I wonder if Jared’s finish is inspired by the finish of golfers like Rory Mcllroy’s . Measurements of Rory’s driver swing show that, at impact, his hips have stopped rotating anticlockwise (actually they briefly rotate clockwise as they do in the backswing). This means that all the rotational momentum of his lower body has been transferred to his upper body where it is available to be transferred to the club-head (none of it Is wasted). In Rory’s swing more of the rotational momentum developed in his body is being transferred to the club head (and the ball) than in Jerald’s swing. In this lesson, as I see it, Dr Kwon is trying to get Jared to speed up his arms and hence club head coming into impact and, hence, slow down his body rotation to make the swing more efficient and the finish more stable. Specialising in dynamics for 40 years has given me a particular perspective on the golf swing that, hopefully, will be of interest to at least a small sub-set of golfers.

yes.... Dr. K mentioned acceleration/deceleration...and it did not dawn on me that this what happens in the golf swing...duh! Then I understood what he is talking about in terms of measured forces in his graphs. He speaks my language as in F=ma. At start of swing, a little force from ground needed to move club to takeaway. Arm motion is not force but the result of that very little force as body has mass of 80kg or 150 lbs, club is 1 kg or less...so little force needed. At the change of direction at the top - must decelerate, then accelerate - so there must be force on the ground...only place to generate it...then at impact, stop the body - force needed, let the club go - body stops, arms continue...rotational mechanics, with force... my head hurts thinking about this....too many levers, joints, arms,.... need coordination and skill to keep it all together ... have to keep it simple, as Dr. K advocates.

weight shift doesnt change regardless of iron or driver. now if your talking about chipping that's a whole different subject then a full golf swing. but full iron swing or driver swing you still have to shift weight. only difference is most of us don't and shouldn't take a full shoulder turn with irons. accuracy over max speed. a 3/4 swing with proper weight shift will still go further then a bad swing at full speed.

Dr. K’s diagnostic eye/error detection ability is amazing. One swing and he is on top of it. The difference with this golfer is that he has plenty (seems like too much speed or over-rotation) of speed (which is the majority of the other videos) but needs control as the high hands at impact indicates that he is “off plane” for single plane swing which Dr.K advocates. Dr. Kwon goes for the fix right away which is good for kinesthetic learner but for a cognitive learner, more explanation might be good but may be disastrous for the majority with too much information. The variety of students is great. Interesting to see that all want to desperately improve and respond. Dr. K has found a straightforward approach that fixes so many problems but his keen eye is the key.

Hi Brendan, would appreciate your opinion on this comment. I have spent time having lessons with Brad Hughes doing the same module work and learning the same philosophies that John Erickson teaches. It appears to me that John and Dr Kwon are teach two diametrically opposing methods. Dr Kwon is teaching a fast arm body stall using the straightening left leg to continue rotation post impact with the whole focus on velocity - the exact things that John teaches not to do. John teaches a bent left leg with strong torso rotation post impact focusing on acceleration. Having worked with both do you have a perspective?

From what I have seen in other videos, Dr Kwon is not a fan of the 'reverse C' golf swing. I think Dr Kwon was trying to get the arms back in front sooner on the downswing as well as showing Jared how little he needed to 'recenter' as start of downswing to counter that back stress. But I could be wrong. Dr Kwon is the only one that really knows for sure.

That pressure is " created" by the disconnect of his arms from his body, from the takeaway to the top and back to impact Your body is seeking balance at all times in all things. If his arms where closer through out the swing, there would be no shearing force.
@lookmil107
@lookmil107 2 жыл бұрын
@@timcastle938 Yes, he is creating a shear force by using a slightly diverging kinematic angular acceleration. If the radial forces within the bending shaft were more tangential then he would achieve more linear velocity during the time differential “lag.” In other words he is supinating before achieving his maximum torsional centering reaction forces can align within his natural moments of inertia. If f=ma then he is a reactionary partial differential stability equation worth solving. It’s really no more complicated than understanding a recant matrix diversion, be it with a modified inverse lever action. Dr Kwon wanted him to be the glass, but he refused and continued to be the water. Bruce Lee could have helped to explain the left leg stability factor as Bruce was left handed but right foot dominate. That was his secret until he told it to Steve McQueen, which eventually got both of them killed. Power forces at work here people.

*The content is excellent, Brandon, I believe Jared just needs to nail the backswing into his transition on his right inner thigh, it is a hair too long, resulting in the extreme tilt finish. A big body turn with a short arm swing IN FRONT OF YOU. Plus, allow those glutes do their job and lead you in your barrel. Interesting lesson. Keeping the arms tighter to the body is like a figure skater drawing the arms closer for max speed, so makes sense to me. Also interesting is the point about being too open; we are constantly being advised to get the body out of the way, to allow the arms to swing freely, but it would appear that this can be over done, as in this golfer. But will probably not apply to most rec. players. It would be nice to have shot tracer on these live lessons; would that be possible?

Wishing Jared all the best. Dr kwon has valid theoretical points but being so close to q school, can anyone make such large changes? The things dr kwon mentions seem like they would take years to do. For e.g. fred couples coach is still asking him to shorten the backswing. At this point in time, seems the only adjustment to entertain would be setup, grip, alignment or rhythm & tempo - Adam scott & Brooks come to mind.

Jared swings as though he is still a slender boy having to use his body excessively to generate speed. He is very supple but I fear for his back and leg joints. I suggest that he needs to bulk up a lot to protect his joints, reduce his flexibility and gain control over his swing. He may need to sacrifice some distance initially. An unusual problem. I agree with Dr Kwon that Jared has too much body movement, I suggest that the answer is less body not more arms. Jared's "stalling the body" idea is not a good swing thought, I prefer "allowing the club to pull the body into the follow through" not the body pulling the club.

If i were Jared i would get away from that guy as soon as possible. Knowing that Kelvin has been ill for a while. If he were watching Jared with that guy his health would deteriorate even more. Jared has a rotational swing, and his hand path matches up with it perfectly. I wish i could ask him what's going on with his swing. Dr. no nothing is taking out the athletic rotational part and turning him into an arm-driving swing. Slide hips forward and upper body, just to make sure we don't spin out, pull the arms down, and make sure you keep your arms closer to your body, because we don't want that horrible hand path that matched up with your beautiful athletic rotational swing. Now you can hit push draws with that nice into out swing path. And by the way don't worry if your arms get stuck behind your right hip, it will only cause you to get the occasional blocks right or snap hook. God forbid, we want to get rid of that horrible rotational swing that got your arms in front of your body so you could keep your drive hold release that allowed you to stabilized your club face before. Horrible rotational swing. That guy with all the letters after his name should not be allowed near any golfer's especially professional golfers who play golf for a living. That guy would be the last person i would ever go for advice to explain golf swing mechanics. And yes i know what i am talking about.

@@georgewalker03 …… I believe Dr Kwon was attempting to teach Jarad how centripetal forces combined with a kinematic levered resistance can create a reactionary centrifugal force with angular acceleration to force loading into a radial sequence. If Jarad had a more downward moment of inertia stabilizing vector then his outer oblique rotation would in essence require a pronating force to direct his differential sequencing. This is why acceleration can be exponentially matrixed into the decelerating post pivot stabilization. Dr Kwon really knows his shit.

I can't think of ever seeing a tour-level player have such mediocre balance. He does look like he is moving with too much body rotation. Tour pros are very open at impact, but their hips and torso are decelerating as the club sweeps through, and they generally finish in balance. The only players I can recall seeing turn their shoulders that far through are junior players and some high level lady players. Either he is unusually flexible, or he is doing something very unconventional to be rotating his torso and swinging his shoulders around that much. I wonder if they tried shortening his backswing or getting him recentered much earlier if it would tame that action.

I think you're spot on, even though you pose more questions than answers...the 'answers' can be found as 'bread crumbs' dispersed throughout Matt Christian's videos on his site, Elite Golf Performance...it's an encyclopedia of all things 'nuetral' and 'stable' in the golf swing. I just reverted back to Matt's principles from the over-rotational pattern, with only a small loss in power with my driver, but with more consistency with my overall ball striking.
@jpbouffard
@jpbouffard 2 жыл бұрын
@@wranglerpc I am sure he must be a very good athlete; you have to be able to find the ball and hit it solid with alot of power to be able to make it even to KF Tour events. But it does not look like an elite, tour level swing. Maybe a college player's swing, early in their career, as they are developing. With respect to the guy, I mean, I'm sure he works extremely hard at the game and as I say, I think anyone who has gotten to his level has achieved alot. He's clearly a fine golfer. But I think if he really wants to be at the very highest level, he needs a swing overhaul. It's probably difficult at his age, but others have done it and I'm sure he can. I'm not sure that Dr. Kwon's expertise is of the sort that can overhaul a swing. Dr. Kwon can see what is biomechanically wrong, but a golf professional with lots of swing experience probably would have to work with Kwon to determine what the best way is to change this guy's swing so he can get better results.

Yeah perhaps a simpler way would have to explain to the player due to his over swing with the arms he’s having to use his body to force/generate the speed for the arms to catch up. All this player from my view needed was to explain how out of sync he was and that he was having to use his body to get his arms to catch up. Seems to much of a forceful move to hit the shot. I like Dr. Kwon’s ideas on flow but now that I have seen him work with a couple of guys with very good swings I can say he must hate all of the swings of the fastest players because they are all wide open with the arms out away from the body. If this player uses shoulder extension to get his hands in tighter to his body he’ll have to change other variables like grip or wrist conditions because getting the arms down is a face closing mechanism.
