Thank-you! This is hemoglobin information I should have already known. My A1C just came back at 5.6% & EAG of 114 -- right at the cut-off. Lindsay -- you are the clearest speaking person on KZbin with impeccable articulation! I wish docs would relay the same info. My husband has a 5.9 A1C which his doc said was perfectly healthy. I told him he was in the pre-diabetes range but he said no, not according to his doc. He is @ 50lbs overweight at least & I wish he took this seriously before it becomes extremely serious.

Can I average my own blood sugar at home

Great question. Some continuous glucose monitors are starting to be able to predict A1C with some accuracy. At this point averaging your blood sugar at home won't give you a very accurate result, especially if you are using the finger prick method to test. Someday soon I imagine this will be possible though.
